How do you feel about the firing of Tim Peel?

What the NHL really should have is a penalty challenge for the case of ridiculous calls with the same or similar rules applying to it as a goal challenge. Say you lose your penalty challenge, you then lose your goal challenge, timeout, & you get a minor penalty or even better a double minor (4min).

Make it really risky for teams so that it's mostly only used for obvious dogshit calls that can often ruin a game. Refs will find a way around this by still making makeup calls on the borderline/grey-area penalties but at least they won't be calling the ridiculous stuff; or just for the cases where the ref happens to make a really bad call.

And in these challenges it must be clear to Toronto that the penalty should not have been made; anything slightly borderline remains.

It however, should be limited to challenging penalties & not missed calls I think, at least until they can better manage it I think it would be better than nothing.

I think it's a logical suggestion, but the officiating isn't good enough to be questioned at this point. They're too far away from the actual rulebook to make consistent calls, so the league won't want to highlight it.

Think of something like interference leading to a key moment (flashes of the Mo penalty as an example). There's already a standard with examples, so both teams should rightfully be pissed at the outcome of the call.

A lot of the NHL's rulebook is written so poorly... I think they do this intentionally so that it creates grey area & the leeway for refs to bend rules for supposedly the better of the game.

It's heavily based on interpretation, but even then I'd say less than 10% of infractions (by the book) are called. So that puts officials in a position to call it the right way or the standard way if there's a challenge.

It's a great concept, but has practical challenges

It used to be that discipline was part of winning. Now the games are fixed so it evens out. Idiots
I'm really disenchanted about this. Like WTF the game almost always has ebs and flows. The refs can help a team along to be in a game they have no business being in. Then the helped team can get lucky or turn it on for few minutes and end up winning. Total B S

So when do fans become involved in the process. Any fan in the know is didgusted with Colin Campbell and his bunch of cronies fixing games at the direction of the Nhl. The Nhl has a credibility problem with the fans and cronies on sports networks set the narrative. The narrative can be seen as nothing more than behind the scenes nepotism and cronyism.
Follow the money on anything to form a soild stance on anything. It’s rule of thumb. Then they have the nerve to call fixing games, game Management.
How about we call it fraudulent game fixing. Fiction. Lies. How about we call it terrible injustice to the integrity of the game. I see it as fixing games. When you ignore the rules of the game for any reason it is dishonesty. So the games we watch, our game is a lie.
They reduced our game to a lie.
A fan petition is a option later. The heading of the petition has to be worded in a scorching eye catcher that nails them to the wall.
F**** B.S beyond comprehension of honest people.

The rule book on the absolute clear ignored calls on the Leafs this year are clear. It’s refs not being held accountable and nobody ever putting together a paper trail ( video trail) on them. You need proof to put it on them. How do we know as fans that they aren’t betting on games and fixing it as a group at betting facilitators. They can make a pile of money fixing games on over under, wins by underdogs etc.
These refs obviously colluding how to bend the rules is obnoxious. Then the culture of the reffing fraternity was exposed when Peel is teaching his peers with less expierence how to fix games. What a despicable culture.A ref is supposed to make calls based on the rule book. They plan calls. Thats premeditated cheating.
I’m completely disgusted with being jobbed by these crooks.
