How bad would you kill for our old team?

If we didn't trade for Nash, and Gaborik/Richards still were the awful players they were this season....then what?

best season as a Rangers fan for me, pretty upset that team is dismantled.

LOL! Great song choice, I was just listening to The XX before this video. Thought I still had my headphones on haha.

Definitely a magical year to be a Ranger fan and I miss the hell out of a lot of the players no longer with us. Not sure they could've repeated if they stayed together, but still an awesome year

My heart still sinks hearing "Henrique it's over"

We would still have an overpayed Dubinsky and an Anisimov looking for a nice raise. I think we would be in bigger cap trouble if we didn't do that trade.

And yes I miss that season, hopefully a better one is on the horizon.

And we had to hear about how "clutch" he is for the next few months. Zajac struggled this past season and Henrique failed to step up. Yea real clutch :shakehead.

Dubinsky is far from overpaid considering what the market is going at now. He makes the same amount as Callahan and they're very comparable players. Anisimov will probably get around 4mil his next contract, which is fair value for a big, defensively responsible 2C with improving goal scoring record each year. Tim Erixon is also a very good prospect who has thrived playing with Columbus this year. Watched him in some games vs. the Whale during the lockout and he looked like a savvy veteran out there. I'd think those three would add much needed depth to the Rangers squad.

Callahan and Dubinsky are comparable, but one regressed after their raise. The other's production roughly remained the same. Depth is nice, but you need high end talent too. Also, at least one of Dubinsky or Anisimov would have ended up getting third line minutes. That's a lot for a guy that far down the depth chart.

Unless next year becomes THE year, I'm sorry to say, 2011-12 WAS the year and they came up just short.

No matter what, it was the most memorable season of hockey I watched. Gaborik's early dominance, Henrik at his best, Richards clutch goals, the emergence of McD and Girardi, the Winter Classic, 6-0 vs. the Flyers, the two Game 7's against Ottawa/Washington, Richards with 6.6 to go, clinching the Atlantic, clinching the #1 seed... I could go on and on and on about the amazing moments from 2011-12.

It was a very memorable season. Best since 1997 in term or results, but best since 1994 in terms of vibe.

That being said it's over and they won't have a team like that again soon even if Dubinsky comes back post buyout this upcoming season (very speculative).

They can have a different team with a similar vibe and a different style. Just depends on who is brought in, and how the young guys gel with the rest of the group.

I'd do anything to have Dubi back in blue on a more reasonable deal. That has BIG TIME RESURGENCE written all over it.

Last year's team was great but seriously flawed offensively, and you just can't win in this league without an offense. I believe the post lockout GPG average of SC champs is 3.06 or so, which we were not close to last year. Great team defensively and stellar goal tending, but a mediocre ES offense and an atrocious PP made for very long series against inferior teams and ultimately did us in in the ECF against the Devils in the end.

I didn't think so but I remember rumblings that CBJ wants to move him because of his salary. I still say Asham and Pyatt for Dubi and a fourth or fifth rounder.

CBJ will be buying out the Wyz. I'll be shocked if they don't.

Dubinsky was on pace for over 50 assists last seasons. Those rumours are definitely bogus. There's more prominent rumours that suggest Dubinsky will actually be named captain of the Blue Jackets.

Would love to bring Dubi back, but it's a pipe dream at BEST.

That being said, Wiz would be a nice get if he's bought out.

Interesting. I saw a game in LA in mid-April vs. CBJ and Dubi still has the puck possession and board strength, but he just doesn't shoot anymore.

I'd love to bring Wiz in as a depth signing. With Staal's injury, Stralman losing x numbers of weeks in the summer to train, and Del Z having sports hernia surgery, the D is going to be sloppy to start off next season. They NEED to make some depth signing rather than pray for both McLIrath and Noreau to make the team.

Wiz>Zidlicky in my opinion although if they buy out Richards, I might be inclined to sign both as crazy as that sounds.

Don't see Dubinsky getting bought out. Fans and brass love him in Columbus despite some imperfections in his game.....pretty much exactly like in New York.

Dubinsky can be a frustrating player, but you have to hand it to the guy: he has a way of making friends with the locals with the intensity he plays with.

I kind of disagree we needed him to win board battles and someone who could carry the puck up the ice and go hard to the net.

I an honestly say that there wasn't one time this season where I said "You know what this team is missing? Brandon Dubinksy."

Yeah. He was a very good player in 2010-2011, but the season after that was a disappointment. Didn't move his feet or drive to the net.

The 2011-2012 team was fantastic, the best I've seen as a fan so far; with that being said, that team with Torts could only get us so far because of systemic limitations.

With Vigneault, who knows...
