One of my regrets thus far is that I’ve never taken my kids to Cooperstown.

They’re 21 and 18 and I think we’re going to try to go for Papi’s induction.

Any tips from those who have gone.

Curt Schilling, who received 58.6 percent of the vote, took to social media to praise former teammate David Ortiz.

“Every year the conversation revolves around who didn’t get in. Like all star voting, who got cheated. I say it every year and especially this year, focus on who did get in. [David Ortiz] deserved a [first] ballot induction! Congratulations my friend you earned it!”

Clemens, who received 65.2 percent of the vote, said it was a long time since he had been concerned with the idea of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“Hey y’all! I figured I’d give y’all a statement since it’s that time of the year again. My family and I put the HOF in the rear view mirror ten years ago. I didn’t play baseball to get into the HOF. I played to make a generational difference in the loves of my family. Then focus on winning championships while giving back to my community and the fans as well.

“It was my passion. I gave it all I had, the right way, for my family and for fans who supported me. I am grateful for that support. I would like to thank those who took the time to look at the facts and vote for me. Hopefully everyone can now close this book and keep their eyes forward focusing on what is really important in life. All love!”

Clemens is complicated

Midway through the 1996 season he suddenly turned the clock back 10 years.

I was told 20 years by somebody who would know that Roger chose Toronto because a certain drug was legal there. :dunno:

He never failed a test yet he had no issue with his wife using steroids. o_O

In the end his comment 'I don't give a rat's ass about the HoF' doomed him with many writers.

Schilling doomed himself on social media.

If the HOF was only for good people that were great baseball players, it would probably be half full.

FIFA is more corrupt.

MLB borders on the WWE and I question whether is should be registered as entertainment or a sport. When it comes to cheating in all forms, they foster, promote, encourage, and enrich themselves, then claim the moral high ground. Sorry, at least Vince McMahon scoffed at the idea of being an event that did not have predetermined outcomes.

Sarge . . . Cooperstown is 90-min from me. I'm there almost every Summer. Make a trip of it. Take your time. There is the Lake, brewery, hiking, biking. One afternoon . . . you;ll be rushed and miss much.

Nah. He was a good not great player. It’s not the hall of good either. It should be for the best of the best. If you have to make a case for the guy, it means he doesn’t belong.
He sure was clutch in the playoffs with more than just the Sox. Social media burned him IMO. We lauded Ortiz for his playoff prowess but don’t do the same with Schill. I guess we can say he never cheated the game and pitched against those that did.

Yup its a nice town.. I used to drive thru it all the time as one of my solar fields I worked at a few times a month was in Lauren's and I lived by Herkimer.

We're planning on hitting it for 2-3 nights. I was there when I was about 11, but not since.

Thanks!

Clemens was obsessed with becoming a Hall of Famer. It kills him not getting in.

If he ever gets in via the old timers Mindy McCready and Brian McNamee should jointly induct him.
Clemens would be in and saved millions in Legal fees and lost endorsements by just setting up McNamee children with college fund accounts . He does that he eliminates the only guy who can take him down and McNammee takes a bullet for the Rocket

Roger such a dummy
