I know it's cliche' to say but that's 100 minutes of my life I would like back. This was beyond horrible with lousy ( over ) acting and an non-ending that was wide open to interpretation. The only reason to watch this Canadian made crapfest is if you are having trouble sleeping. :thumbd:

I was going to point out that a lot of good and even classic horror films have come out of Canada... but then I noticed that you're in Vancouver. Did you lose a bet in 2011 or something?

FWIW, you might've saved yourself those 100 minutes if you'd first looked the movie up on Rotten Tomatoes... where it appears to not even have an entry, which is probably not a good sign ;).

You forget the original original one. Which is not as good as the remake, but very good too. I agree that the critics were way too harsh on the sequel/prequel, it was more than ok.

yeah, it really had an impossible task trying to live up to the insane practical effects of the middle one

I have it as part of a trilogy of sorts I like to watch together. Basically each is a master class in building and increasing an atmosphere of tension throughout a movie until you cant breathe because you think the walls are closing in on you

Alien
The Shining
The Thing

Pretty close to HF's top-10 horror films of all-time!

Movies: - HF's top-10 horror films of all time: #10 (LAST ONE)

Oh it gets even better - I grew up about an hour outside of Montreal. Trust me - it was tough being the only Bruins fan around in Habs territory. Everybody else I knew cheered for the Montreal and when I declared my love for the Bruins I think telling my Dad I was sleeping with the family dog would have gone over better. :(

I watched the original “A Nightmare On Elm Street” (for the zillionth time) the other night. It still holds up well IMO, as i hadn’t seen it in awhile.

“A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge” on the other hand??? Christ it f***ing sucks!!! I just tried rewatching it and nope....I can’t do it. :help::help::help:

I really should see it again because in my souvenir, part 2 was way better than Freddy's Dead, and at least as interesting as some of the easier-to-like but generic sequels. I might be wrong. Anyway, none of these films come close to the two Craven directed.

Generally i detest sequels/remakes and shit like this is why

Frankly the only neat thing about “A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge” I thought, was the fact that it has Robert Rusler acting in it.

Even though to me, Robert Rusler will forever be known more for playing Richard Lawson, the demonic greaser in Stephen King’s “Sometimes They Come Back.”

I watched that a lot as a kid.

“Tina!!! Watch this....”

*snip*

The darting of his eyes combined with Freddy’s menacing off-screen cackle you can hear at 1:04 is why Freddy was so f***ing badass. Robert Englund was truly Krueger at his best here.

Red flags for me are that the title is sandwiched between two credits noting this is an ALLEN KOOL joint. Also his name is Allen Kool.

Just watched Vamp last night. Some good Rusler action in that too if you're a completist.

I watched the 1972 Tales From the Crypt film several years ago and liked it. I didn't realize until just recently that there was a sequel, 1973's The Vault of Horror, which was supposedly marketed as Tales From the Crypt Part II. I watched that tonight and really liked it, maybe even slightly more than the original. Like the original, it contains five morality tales loosely joined together, and those tales are similar to the HBO TV show episodes, if you're more familiar with those. In other words, they're rather tame as horror goes and not scary, just macabre because the people get what's coming to them in the end. If you liked the TV show (as I did) or horror anthologies in general, I recommend it.

Last night I decided to have a horror movie marathon - I decided to watch some older films that I had not watched in at least the last 10 years. I started with:

Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for all the Benny Hillish shenanigans but I didn't enjoy this as much as I seem to remember doing so before. Oh well - my next pick is definitely on everybody's " Best of " list:

Still a classic film that still gives the viewer chills every time you watch it. At this point I went and picked up a pizza from Dominos - looking back that might have been the scariest part of my night.

After supper I watched this:

MV5BMzc0MDIwZjktYTEzNC00ZWQxLTk5MWYtYjBmMDI3YTg4ZjYzXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTQxNzMzNDI@._V1_UY1200_CR100,0,630,1200_AL_.jpg

Yeah - it was a made-for-tv film but it still delivers the enough scares to sit through the 3+ hours running time. Keeping with the vampire genre my next film was:

I bought the Blu-ray about 10 years ago but had never watched it before last night. I love the concept of vampires having a full month to feast on the locals and it definitely delivered on the gore scale. I'll have to watch the DVD extras soon. At this point I was getting a little tired so I decided to watch a film that I was sure would keep my interest:

In my opinion one of Tarantino's most underappreciated films. And as far as Salma Hayek goes....

If I had to rate what I watched last night I guess I would do:

The Fearless Vampire Killers ( 6 out of 10 )
Rosemary's Baby ( 9 out of 10 )
Salem's Lot ( 7.5 out of 10 )
30 Days of Night ( 8 out of 10 )
From Dusk Till Dawn ( 8.5 out of 10 )

It's that time of the year again... time to bump this thread. Actually, I was planning to do it yesterday, but forgot.:ha: I find it funny that the last post is from Nov 1st last year. This might as well be called the October thread. I held off on watching horror for most of September so that I'd be ready to binge. Let a month of horror commence!

I watched No One Gets Out Alive the other night. I really enjoyed it. I also watched The Old Ways, which was also pretty solid. My Spookathon has started off well!

Since you seem to be on vampire kick I would recommend George Romero's Martin (1978)

Its a nice take on vampire myth

Its not on any streaming service though (I have DVD) and it was rarely ever shown on TV back in day

One of those movies that is forgotten among his works outside of Romero fans
