I don't know about his balls, but a couple of calls, mainly goals, were met with some cheering on his part.

I think he couldve toned it down a bit, but it was more in the line of JD's OH BABY.

I love Dave. I have no idea how freaking Joe Michelletti got the job over him to begin with, he is ****ing awful. Maloney could be slightly less homer but most color guys are anyway. He tells it like it is a lot.

Worst all time radio guys are pretty easily the Carolina Hurricanes team. If you think Maloney is a bad homer, I don't think you've listened to these guys, yet.

Dave does a great job and we are lucky to have him. I have no idea why he is incurring wrath but he definitely isn't deserving of it.

Every once in a while something comes up about Sam as well and that is even more absurd. The weak link by far is Joe and he's the only one. I hope the rest of the guys stick around as long as they want.

I love Sam, but his eyes are clearly going. He messes up calls with regularity at this point, often mixing up guys whose numbers end in the same digit. I'd be happy with either of Kenny Albert or Howie Rose taking over for him at this point.

I think Sam's ears are worse than his eyes. How many times has a loud ring off the post led to a "save by _____!" from Sam?

Not to mention hockey is such a tough game to call. Once you start losing your hearing or sight you become so exposed. It happens to Doc Emerick too. Baseball is so slow paced its easy to get the players right and to follow the flow of the game. Same with basketball and football. Football I'd say is second to hockey because you are not exposed to the facial features of the players and theres so many players on the field at one time as well as constant substitutions.

Or hes earned the right to do it for as long as he wants.

The fact that he makes mistakes literally means 0 to me. I can see the game.

Joe isn't my favorite, but I honestly think that his biggest fault to most people is that he's not JD.

It was Timonen shoving him, didnt seem like it was the big of a push. Just thought Pouliot helped it a bit with a little jump. Wouldn't be the first time a guy did it after contact.

Sam and JD were amazing together, that being said Sam is way past his prime like others mentioned. He gets the play wrong a lot of times, but so does Joe too. Joe's analysis is so plain boring that I watch the game with my brother and say almost word-for-word what he says before he says it. I would want Howie Rose over Kenny though. I think someone mentioned it earlier, but I love Dave's color...at least in the regular season he didn't seem to be a homer and called it how it is.

The thing I liked about JD was he was all hockey all the time. He knew what every team in the league was doing. He knew who the Rangers had in the AHL and their prospects. He knew something about everyone else's as well. He could get on my nerves at time too. The reverence some of these people have for the superstars like Messier, Lemieux, Gretzky--fawning all over them--JD knew how to schmooze I suppose. To me Lemieux for one was an absolute jerk both on and off the ice. These guys aren't ****ing gods--bad idea to make too big of a deal out of anyone--especially if they're still living. People shouldn't require that amount of attention--it gets obscene. 90% of the time though JD was really good to excellent. Micheletti's %'s aren't nearly as high and I don't know if he's ever been excellent.

I dont have any problem with Maloney being a homer. MSG is a NYR feed. He says the same things as all of us biased fans are thinking. I enjoy that

If you're an oldtimer like me......I'm just happy to SEE every game. Who's commentating doesn't matter. If it's excellent insight, I appreciate that. Otherwise, HOW they explains what's going on on the ice.....is irrelevant. I have eyes, I know the players, I make my own calls. I could literally watch without sound. As long as I have a picture........better than listening to JUST the sound.......which goes waaaay back for me on AM radio.
