I love Maloney, he also isnt afraid to criticize on the (many) occasions the Rangers decide to play like ****. I prefer him over Joe.

I'd rather have a homer do our games on our broadcasts then listen to Sam and Joe **** the other team and its players. I don't wanna hear about how great others teams players are when i'm rooting for my team.

I love Maloney.

Maloney. Dishing out the business in style.

You fill up an arena with a banks name all over it what kind of crowd do you expect when the ticket price goes through the roof.

I love Maloney. He's not afraid to say what's on his mind. Leave the "praise the other team and say the refs are great" BS to the MSG crew.

Maloney tells it like it is, unlike Sam and Joe. The Rangers are great, the opposition is great, the fans are great, everything is sunshine and rainbows!

Maloney is also more detailed in his analysis, which is partly due to the nature of radio because you can't see what's going on. I just wish that Sam and Joe would ditch the superlatives and side stories ("the Sutters love playing hockey at their family ranch!")

I personally really love Dave Maloney... sounds like he has half a bag on sometimes (in a good way), and I appreciate the perspective he brings to the game. For being another former player Homer Joe brings none of that perspective or passion and just makes me curse at my TV when he is wrong about everything and points out obvious things.

Pretty much with you on this. Joe and Sam make excuses for bad officiating as well. Toughest job--blah, blah, blah. For Joe anyway it keeps him in the good graces of the league and there are the perks that come from doing the nationally televised games.

What exactly has Pidto done to make so many people dislike him as a broadcaster? I think he does an ok job on the MSG 150...

Yeah I don't get the hate for him. To me, he just exists. I have no feelings about him one way or another. Gianonne and Micheletti on the other hand are obnoxious. Whatever, we've all got opinions.

Listened to Game 2 of TB MTL and it was embarrassing to hear Esposito and Mishkin. Probably the worst duo in the league. Talk about homerism. Espo is yelling at the top of his lungs "that was interference!!!!" during the middle of Mishkins play by play.

Terrible homerism not to mention that its on RADIO and the listener cant see what Espo was talking about. That went on for a while and then the Lightning scored and heard Mishkins call. i had to turn it off.

Are you serious???

If Maloney came even close to that its a damn shame. I think hes usually pretty fair on TV, but i could see a little bit of them from him too.

Holy **** is that a real thing he does game in and game out? I couldn't stop laughing for a good 2 minutes.

Maloney is emotional, but I like it... Like the goaltender interference call he was so mad.

Against Ottawa when Staal scored he actually shrieked.

He can be labeled a homer for his loyalty to the Rangers but definitely not as bad as some... When the pp was horrid last year he was complaining and explaining how the other team should take penalties cause the pp killed the Rangers momentum not typical of a homer.

This is pretty much what it boils down to and I'd rather have two guys who love the Rangers AND call it how they see it, rather than guys keeping it PC, blowing everyone 24/7 so they can get some national games. That's why Kenny and Dave are a good tandem. Kenny calls the play and doesn't get opinionated while Maloney adds the die hard Ranger fan homer element. Great synergy.

I enjoy Dave Maloney, I wish he was doing games more on the TV side.

He has a true hate for teams like the Flyers and Islanders. He went through those wars back in the late 70s and early 80s. That stuff doesn't go away.

Don't get me wrong, I would take Maloney in a heartbeat over some of the yahoos out there...all I'm saying is that he was never like that when he first took over is all....anyways GO RANGERS!

I like Dave Maloney as an announcer - a lot. He has true passion for the Rangers and the game, and he'll just as easily tell you what's going wrong (and who) as he'll praise the team and players when things are going well. For some reason, when on occasion he moves onto the TV side to sub for Micheletti, he seems to lose some of his bite - but he's still very good.

That all said, he can be a ridiculous homer at times. I was in Ohio Sunday, listening to the game on the radio, and he went over the top complaining about the Stralman goalie interference call. I saw the replay, I tend to agree it was a soft call, but it's the kind of judgement call you see go either way all the time. Maloney went ballistic, getting all agitated, saying he may not be able to finish announcing the game at times - jeesh.

While I love Dave I can understand why fans of other teams use his calls to point out ridiculous Jack Edwards-type homer announcing gone crazy.

I'm a Rangers fan living in the Boston area and while Jack Edwards CAN be a bit of a homer I would put him in the Maloney class, emotional but will say when the Bruins are doing badly. Him and Brick are nowhere near Root levels of homerism. I'm highly upset we won't be getting them for the Habs series because Edwards is at his hilarious best when those teams play.

I think Kenny is terrible on the radio. The few times I have had to listen, he and Maloney will have a conversation while the play is going on instead of giving you actual play -by-play.

Kinda like those two ding dongs who do it for the MSG TV feed already.

But on the tv I can SEE what is going on. On radio, the broadcasters are supposed to give you that and Albert too often doesn't.

Jesus Christ he sounds like a raven being tasered.

I like Kenny but would much rather Howie Rose if I had the choice.

This. Howie is fantastic, and he's been exiled to the Islanders for long enough now.

When the Isles had Rose and Jaffe, they had one of the best broadcasting teams in the league.

Agreed 100%. I'm pretty much beating a dead horse at this point but IMO Joe's problem is that he feels obligated to fill every second of air time whenever Sam isn't speaking so you end up with repetitive and mundane analysis that lends absolutely nothing to the game. The best broadcasters in this league are the ones who feel comfortable with a couple of seconds of silence during the game.

I ran into Maloney at the Rangers game in Toronto this season. Great guy. Spoke with us for a couple of minutes about the team and our trip. Maloney is a real Rangers fan, if he wasn't doing the games he'd be watching all of them at home. I like that kind of enthusiasm. Michelleti tries too hard to detach himself from the Rangers. I don't even know if he's a Rangers fan.
