Michelletti is the worst. When he's not Captain Obvious, he just gives you meaningless info.

I wish they would've given the gig to Maloney.

If a casual hockey fan tuned into the MSG broadcast tonight, I think they would value Maloney's comments. He showed some things that do not emerge through the play-by-play calling.

As importantly, his comments were truthful. Pointing out clear failings by the refs does not make you a homer. Come on, have faith in what you see.

I really really LOVED Maloney tonight. I even noticed that listening to him was great and he complimented Sam Rosen well.

I am quite tired of Joe Michelleti. He needs to go off to NBCSN or something. Cannot stand him and Kenny Albert

Anyone who knocks the coverage of MSG should be cursed and have to watch every game from now on on NBC. Oh wait we all are!!

I absolutely love listening to both him and lagreca. I love having a homer call the game, it feels like i'm watching it with a friend.

Tonight was the best rangers broadcast in years. Joe causes him and Sam to ramble on about random **** that has nothing to do with the game. None of that with Dave. Joe will always find excuses for the refs. Dave will criticize them when they deserve it. Joe will paint a pretty picture with rainbows and butterflies about how the rangers are playing. If the rangers are playing terribly, Dave will let you know. I would love it if Dave took over Joe's job permanently.

Prettaaaay sure Maloney is drunk for most of the games he calls. I've heard him slur his words pretty clearly (oxymoron?) at times over the years.

A drunk Maloney is better than a sober Micheletti and it's no contest. Personally I think Duguay would be fine as well.

Although his complaining about the no-call on Hartnell for tripping McDonagh on the flyers PP was ridiculous. Girardi tossed Hartnell into McD.

Also thought the Pouilot Goalie interference call wasn't as ridiculous as the broadcasters. I thought Pouliot jumped a bit when Timonen shoved him.

WRONG!

It was ridiculous. Where was he supposed to go?

Even the NBC crew thought that the penalty call was bad.

On topic, I had a chance to watch the MSG replay earlier today. And it's not even close. Dave could/can/should take over for Joe ASAP.

Joe is good enough for the rest of the national audience, but not good enough for New York. Dave is the opposite.

Sort of like the reverse of what Minelli & Sinatra sang about.

Maloney is impossible to listen to for me. I know hes a good guy, and he knows his stuff, and he tends to call it like it is, but his segue ways and ramblings are impossible for my ears to stomach...

MSG should go with the 3 man booth. Put Maloney between the benches full-time. Some broadcasts have the third guy. Bret Hedican in SJ. Coates in Philadelphia. Shelley in Columbus.

I'm not exaggerating when I say hearing Kenny Albert on the radio reminds me so much of his dad.

PBP guys shouldn't be biased. Color guys can be as long as they analyze and acknowledge both teams.

Sal Messina and the Whistle were huge homers. But Marv was unbiased so it was a nice balance.

Aside from his excitement, Rosen is easily one of the most unbiased PBP in the league.

Micheletti is just stupid. He offers little. all he does is say someone is hurting or say he thinks a goal on Lundqvist "hit something on the way"

JD was a huge homer but he offered a ton of league-wide insight especially on prospects

Maloney is a slight upgrade over Joe which doesn't say much

I like Maloney.

Micheletti comes off as a sniveling brown-noser to me. The type of guy that would rat you out to your boss at the drop of a dime.

Maloney also seemed to know how to properly use the tech in the booth. He didnt have any troubel drawing circles around players using the teleprompter

Rosen definitely cheats on the trivia

Not so much cheating as it is going with Brian Leetch for every guess.

Homerloney is a breath of fresh air, Sam must appreciate a drinking buddy too.

And to those thinking Maloney's homerism is too much....All the way back from 2011!

I had the (dis)pleasure of going to an afternoon Christening yesterday and was listening to the game on the way down to the event...Let me first of say, I loved when Maloney first became color guy on radio...great insights, truthful no matter the situation,etc...yesterday, I felt I was listening to Derek Sanderson covering the Bruins in the late '80's-early '90's...complete biased,one-way views...when did this transformation happen? and it's a shame to be honest....godspeed

I couldn't disagree more with this post. Give me the guy anyway of the week that actually calls a game without the fear he will get stifled ny the NHL for speaking out of turn. It wasent homerism. He called it like it was actually happening, unlike his counterpart who is petrified to ever speak out about a call or in the many cases this past series...lack thereof.

I applaud Maloney. He's got balls!
