I was thinking the same thing. San jose only has around 30,000 left to spend on the cap and Kubina makes 5m per year. I know they traded away Grier but i still dont think that is enough cap space to take on Kubina.

They traded away Boyle... forfeiting their cup...

Canadiens look pretty ****ed with the cap too... Hope people are keeping track... OTT's cap calculations don't work either, but the Sedins trade didn't go down anyway, I guess they are ok without that... (cap space left is 2M off or something...)

The direction some teams are taking are mind boggling to me. But hey, I guess it's more fun to mix it up and do something different.

Nashville may consider trading Dan Ellis for a veteran backup ++.
(We all know how well goalies play after they leave Nashville! I'm looking at you Mason)

Also looking to acquire a decent 7th Dman. (Rob Davison from the Canucks, come on down!)

All picks were returned to respective teams in this game, which I feel is dumb. NYI should have the SJ 1st, that pick was the main part of the Campoli/Comrie for McAmmond/SJ 1st trade.
how do you think I feel, I had 3 2nds and 2 1sts. And now no more picks and no Campoli.

I don't think that I gave away the cup. I honestly think that I made my cup chances better. Here is why I think so

Dan Boyle
5'10"/190lbs
14 Goals, 33 Assits for 47 Points +8
1.2 Blocked shots per game
0.7 Hits per game
Salary of 6.667M for next 5 years

Pavel Kubina
6'4"/244lbs
13 Goals, 25 Assists for 38 points -8
1.6 Blocked Shots per game
1.1 Hits per game
Salary of 5M for next year only

Daniel Girardi
6'2"/200lbs
3 Goals 13 Assists, 16 points -13
1.7 Blocked shots per game
0.8 Hits per game
Salary of 1.6M for next year

Now I traded Dan Boyle for two players that give me a lot of physical presence that combined are putting up more points then Boyle but sacrifice the body a lot more then Boyle. Boyle is a +8 but he is on a team that is overall a +51 in GF and GA. Kubina is a -8, Toronto is a -39 and they have the worst GAA and Save % in the league(Goaltending).

My Defense went from 163 points to 164 points, So I didn't lose out on any offense and I made the team Defensively better! But thats just my opinion

TSN - COYOTES AND ISLANDERS MADE SPLASH
To :isles
Enver Lisin, Cody Franson, Keith Yandle

To :coyotes
Nigel Dawes, Andy Hilbert, Andy Sutton, Erik Christenen, 3rd round pick in 09'

We know that we give away plenty of youth, but Franson or Aulie were gonna go, but it was Franson that had to. Yandle and Lisin are very young too. But we got grit, some great improvement in our 3rd-4th line. And in the back end as well.

The Islanders are happy to welcome Enver Lisin, Cody Franson, and Keith Yandle to our young up and coming team. They fit the mold of our youth movement while still being NHL ready. This really solidified our future backend which had poor depth. We also look for Lisin to be a contributor on the wing. To make room for them on our roster we will have to ship out a few more players before the deadline. We wish Nigel Dawes, Andy Hilbert, Andy Sutton, and Erik Christenen good luck in Phenoix. We just felt that moving them would be best for this team as it would open up some spots for the youngert guys.

Alrighty. We'll kick your ass in round 2.

Minnesota Wild have begun talks to possibly hire Mark Messier as head-coach since the MacLean talks seem to trail off...

Not at all, I'm under it and will have about 7mil$ in cap space this summer with 2 holes to fill.

Habs trade block

Alex Tanguay - Looking for: young NHL player or prospect (foward or goaltender) or 2009 1st round pick. Something like that.

Bryan Allen - Same as Tanguay

Alexander Perezhogin - Same team as Radulo and actullay out prodicing him this year. Good money and playing time could get him back to the NHL, something the Habs can't offer him.

Alexander Steen - Looking for a NHL player in return, some prospect could be added from our side.

*Also still looking for a back up goalie.
