DALLAS STARS

Stars would like to announce the signing of some players.

Sergei Zubov has been signed for 4.5 mil for one year with a NTC.
Also signed young right wing Chris Conners to a 2 year deal worth 1.15 mil 2 way contract.
Prospect defenseman Mark Fistric came to a final offer that landed him 750k per year for 2 years.
Future Chara, Boris Valabik signed a contract for 3 years giving him 1.15 a year.

Also Dallas would like to announce a trade. Including goalie Richard Bachman for Defenseman Matt Smaby. We feel that signing this young towering defenseman will fill Daryl Sydors spot on the roster since he is becoming a UFA at the end of the season. We did not feel the need to resign him since he was getting old. Therefore Smaby should fill the spot quite well.

Blues Acquire Stephane Veilleux
610x-34.jpg

Blues president John Davidson announced today that the Blues have acquire LWer Stephane Veilleux from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for LW prospect Simon Hjalmarsson, a 3rd round pick in 2009, and a 5th round pick in 2010.

"Stephane is a guy who you can put on your third line and not have a problem with him producing there. He's not a big guy, but he plays the body well. He's got soft hands and is smart with the puck. He brings depth to this team which looks at times like it's lacking that depth it needs to compete. Stephane fills a void and we are pleased to bring him into our organization." Blues president John Davidson said.

We got a chance to catch up with Stephane Veilleux when he landed in St. Louis and he told us, "I'm pleased with being in St. Louis. This is a franchise with a lot of history and is aiming high with a reach for the playoffs. I hope I can add some depth and bring some scoring this team. I've played in this arena before. But never on the side I am now and I am very excited for it."

RADULOVE

St Paul, MN. In a spontaneous and bizarre turn of event, after hearing about Radulov's reluctance to come back to the NHL and with the deadline for him to be able to return closing in, Minnesota hockey fans have spontaneously taken the streets in what the proclaimed to be "Radulove" day. People proudly wore the Wild's colors since yesterday, people have started collecting money to symbolically circumvent the cap and convince Radulov to come over if it is only for financial reasons.

The few people who had a Bergeron jersey have already tacked on the RADULOV name and the #47 is soon to become a hot commodity in St Paul.

Enthropi spoke publicly at one of those rallies. He mainly stated that it was a nice gesture to show that this franchise is on a whole other level than Nashville. This is the hockey state. He also said that obviously the funds raised by the fans will not be used to bend Radulov's will, but that the management of the Wild will not let it be in vain.

GM enthropi announced that those funds AND all income generated by the sales of the official Radulov jersey from now until the end of the season will be given directly to a charity of the young winger's choosing, regardless of whether or not he joins the organization.

The GM then made a final plea to come back where he belongs in the NHL, so he can participate to this great window the Wild have opened with recent acquisitions, including Radulov himself. This would also lift the suspension by the IIHF that prevents Radulov from participating to the 2010 Olympics.

Enthropi brandished a Wild logo print at the end, declaring "here is the key the greatest opportunities a young player like you can have, Alexander. Bring on the Radulove!..."

He then broke into tears, realizing he traded a high quality dman like Johnsson chasing a dream of a top flight winger to play with Koivu and Gaborik and that now, the whole fandom had been dragged into this... Wild dream...

Blues Acquire Parrish and Sutherby; Send King, Sterling and a 4th to Dallas
84158376.jpg

The St. Louis Blues have sent enforcer D.J. King, the project prospect in Brett Sterling, and a 4th round pick in 2009 to the Dallas Stars in exchange for forwards Brian Sutherby and Mark Parrish.

"This deal adds more depth to our team and also gives us guys who have played playoff hockey before. Parrish has posted 9 points in 27 playoff games while Sutherby has been held pointless in 10 playoff games, but we feel that their experiance is worth more and could post more points than either of the players dealt for them. Granted they play seperate rolls, it's a good deal for us."

In other news, with King being shipped out of town, Cam Janssen is officially the St. Louis Blues enforcer.

Sutherby will likely play on the third line as Parrish will take on fourth line duties.

ISLES RESIGN 5, INCLUDING WEIGHT

340x.jpg

The New York Islanders have resigned Doug Weight to a one year extension paying him 3.5 million for the year. Doug has been terrific for the Isles this year and has been a great leader for the younger players. This all leads us to our next announcement, the Islanders will give the "C" to Doug. He will be the 12th captain in Islanders history.

We also have resigned four RFA's. We signed Milan Jurcina to a 3 year deal paying him 1.3 million per year, Keith Yandle to a 2 year deal paying him 2 million per year, Boyd Gordon to a 2 year deal paying him 900k per year, and lastly Enver Lisin to a 2 year contract paying him 1.4 million per year. We expect all of these guys to play an important role for us this year and in the future.
