The Washigton capitals have made their first deal. We are pleased to annouce that Dean McAmmond and Bruno Gervais have been aquired from the Islanders in exchange for Boyd Gordon, Donald Brashear, Michael Nylander and Milan Jurcina. While we understand we are giving up some good players, this deal will allow us the space to hopefulle make the big player we need to make a run for the stanley cup.

The Islanders are happy to welcome Boyd Gordon, Milan Jurcina, Michael Nylander, and Donald Brashear to the Island. We look for Boyd Gordon and Milan Jurcina to play a role for us in the future. We like what we have seen in these two. Brashear will be used to protect our young players for this year and Nylander will be put on the block. We will miss Bruno Gervais and Dean McAmmond and we wish them luck. We are happy to help out the Caps with their salary cap problem and are happy to bring in these young and talented players.

We also would like to announce the resigning of:
Jack Hillen-1.300-4 years- 1 way
Peter Mannino-0.600-2 years- 2 way
Ben Walter-0.600-1 year- 2 way
Trevor Smith-1.000-2 years-2 way
Nate Thompson-0.700-1 year-2 way
Blake Comeau-1.250-3 years-1 way
Tim Jackman-0.850-2 years-1 way
Yann Danis-1.000-1 year-1 way
Joe Callahan-0.600-2 years-2 way
Mike Iggulden-0.700-2 years-2 way
Jeremy Colliton-1.000-2 years-2 way

We are still looking to make some more moves and now we will add Michael Nylander and Donald Brashear to the list of players on the trade block.

have put Thomas Vanek on the block for those interested. I'm looking at depth in any area. For the right deal he will be moved.

Thanks.

The Capitals are looking for a shut down defensmen. Also looking for a solid top 4 defensmen at a cheap contract. Also will be looking into a third line center.

Sources close to the team say they are looking at a Center/winger from a western conference canadian team e3

Nashville has made its second major blockbuster of the day.

first we sent

Ryan Suter, Cody Franson
for
Zbynek Michalek, Mikkael Boedker

and now

Tampa Bay receives

Martin Erat
Dan Hamhuis
1st 2009
Roman Josi

:nashville
Nashville receives:

Martin St. Louis
Lukas Krajicek

We're disappointed to part with both Suter and Hamhuis, but Weber is the clear future of our D, with Zbynek Michalek, Jon Blum and some other great prospects in the wings.

Our offense has improved ten-fold with the addition of St.Louis, and Boedker, we've gotten quicker, and added 2 players who are able to pot us some goals.

Nashville is making a push for a deep playoff run, the fans and this city deserve it.

You think your getting enough for Pronger?

maybe not, but the only other offer i got that was better was from iggy4heart, who turned out to not be a GM in this game after all lol. teams were skeptical to give up too much for an aging d-man, i got a lot of offers but i actually think this one is fair for both sides.

are thrilled to announce a major deal between the Atlanta Thrashers.

:sabres

Ilya Kovalchuk

:thrashers

Thomas Vanek
Henrik Tallinder

We payed the premium to acquire Kovalchuk but the idea of him with Staal was salivating. Thomas Vanek's inconsistency is too risky for a team aiming for the playoffs. There are points when he turns it on for 8 games and then he disapears. Quite honestly, again, I liked the player and I went for him.

This trade benefits Atlanta more than Buffalo in the way that they are not acquiring question marks but more of sure things. With the acuisition of Tim Gleason, Henrik Tallinder became expendable as we cant utilize 3 defensive defensemen. Atlanta cant be regressing now and lose fans , so they gain something for Kovalchuk that help them presently and aid them to continue with the same plan in their rebuild.

to Buf: Kovalchuk
To ATL: Vanek, and Tallinder

Why we do this? We get a franchise winger and a top 4 defenseman in return for our generation talent.

To ATL: Niskanen, and Neal
To DAL: White, Kozlov, Valabik, Boulton, Leveille, and a 2nd

Why? White fed off Kovy, and Boulton and Leveille are fighters who can hit, and Kozlov was getting old. We will miss Valanik, but Niskanen is much better, and Neal will grow into a very skilled powerforward.

BIG TRADE

Dallas Stars report trading top prospect James Neal and young offensive defenseman Matt Niskanen for Prospect Vetrans Slava Kozlov and Todd White, as well as prospects Boris Valabik and Daultan Leveille. Also we added strong man Eric Boulton and Atlanta's 2nd 09 draft pick.

Although we lost our top prospect and a great player in Niskanen we think that adding on the veterans and young players will help our club for the playoff push. Leveille was said to be the fastest skater in the 2008 entry draft and Valabik said to be the next Chara. We feel that these are two great aspects for our team.

Trade:

Dallas Acquires:
Slava Kozlov
Todd White
Boris Valabik
Daultan Leveille
Eric Boulton
2nd '09

Atlanta Acquires:

James Neal
Matt Niskanen

Really not sure why Dallas does that deal. It's your typical quantity for quality

Neal = 30 goal scorer
White = Leach
Kozlov = too soft
Boulton= detriment on the ice.

Ah well, good Kovalchuk trade though, for both parties.

Darcy Regier is content with the team on the ice now and predicts his team in the playoffs soon enough and make some noise.

Neal might become a 30 goal scorer yes. But there is always a price to pay. White is a leach so he can leach of Ericksson. As for Kozlov he might be too soft but his vetran presence would work out. Bringing in Boulton is just a goon. He wont be a regular player just there to play against rivalries. And Valabik is a great Defenseman and Leveille is a speedy prosepect with potential. I really dont see anything wrong with my decisions. Plus a pick. If you look at all the picks i have. There is no doubt i will be able to get a ton of prospects in the '09 draft. So Dallas is really not worried.

what do you guys think of my line-up so far?

Mason Raymond - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry
Teemu Selanne - Brendan Morrison - Pierre-Marc Bouchard
Travis Moen - Rob Niedermayer - Bobby Ryan
Ryan Carter - Todd Marchant - George Parros

Scott Niedermayer - Marc-Andre Bergeron
Ryan Whitney - Steve Montador
Bret Hedican - Kent Huskins

J-S Giguere
Jonah Hiller

the 4th line needs work, so does the bottom d-pairing, and i could really use a good 2nd line center. i've got some work to do but i think my group's decent. not a championship team and maybe not even a playoff team, but the Ducks were a long shot this year anyway.

The Colorado Avalanche have a trade to announce:

To :avs: Josh Harding + Minnesota's 2009 2nd round draft pick

To :wild: T.J. Hensick, Ryan Stoa, Andrew Raycroft, Colorado's 2009 5th round draft pick

Colorado was in need of a starting goalie and Josh Harding certainly fits the bill. He already has impressive numbers in the NHL but was stuck behind Niklas Backstrom and will now have the opportunity to be a starter in the NHL. He has the potential to be a franchise goalie and his addition makes the Avalanche a much stronger team. We also acquire a third 2nd round pick this year which will help in either trading for more players or in bolstering our prospect depth.

We gave up a lot in this trade but solid goaltending options were slim and we believe that this won't hurt team depth. Hensick is a great player and we thank him for his service, however he was stuck between the NHL and AHL as Stastny and Wolski will be our top 2 centers for years to come. Stoa is a great prospect and gets to play for his home-state team. Raycroft was solid for us this year and we thank him for his service to the team.

I would like to thank enthropi for the wonderful negotiations. There was a lot of back-and-forth but I believe that we both got what we wanted in the end and both teams are better for this.

I dont really see marc andre bergeron being a first line D. Other than that. yah ur last line D and 2nd line C. Other than that you go the physical game, finesse game, and goal scoring game all going for you. Seems solid.
