I genuinely feel bad for everyone associated with the Leafs. Dubas works hard and I respect the heck out of him for that. There have been a few barriers and few self-inflicted wounds that have prevented him from building a Cup contender, but he and the staff have tried to bandaid together a team that could win one round this year. A series win would give them some breathing room to retool.

Having said that, next week and throughout the summer, sports radio would be off the charts entertaining if they lose on Monday. Even though losing a week later to Boston would put them in the same spot, the perception would be completely different.

While that's true, Samsonov still the backbone of this team. He takes his share like everyone else. Even in AHL that second goal shouldn't have gone in, especially in a close out game

Watching Matthews mom in the stands last night, I got this bad feeling in my stomach. We may actually be watching the last 2 Leafs games in Matthews career. He probably thinks he's one of the top guys in the league, he's not going to risk losing in the first round his whole career in a Leaf sweater. If I were him I'd request a trade too.

That is a bullshit comment. These core players are good ones. They are working hard and aren't getting outplayed on the ice.

Ya I was fully expecting them to make that adjustment. The 2 days off was music for them to give them time to counter that and help out Vas. We apparently didn't find a way to counter them from dictating the play.

That is better than playing out the season and walking for nothing on July 1, 2024.

Leafs cannot keep awaiting for the refs to bail them out. Throughout the entire game, it always felt like leafs are waiting for something to happen, as opposed to creating something to happens.

Not blaming the refs on the loss. I'm pointing out the ref 3 get away from Marion's hit literally shrugged. And your response is well sometimes they miss it lol

Then perhaps he can do something about that. You know show up other than chipping in goals. He can use his big frame, he can create opportunties and make life difficult

Allow me to bring up a case study. For the longest part Mike Modano was considered very soft, very disengaged earlier in his career. a floater

Then he decided to take it up on himself and become a very good playoff performer. It was on him, not his mom

Only thing coming on the way of Matthews, is really Matthews

There have only been a couple of guys that have been consistently good, a couple that have been consistently bad.

He’s in the group with a majority that have been inconsistent so you can’t single him out.

What do the Leafs do about the goaltending again? Be it Dubas, or a new GM. What are the options out there? I am not re-signing Sammy unless we win the cup or something.

I like those lines. If JT ends up on the 2nd line, which I fully expect, Marner has to be there too. JT cannot be out there all game against Kuch, especially without Marner, but that's what Cooper will make happen. Unfortunately JT has a certain standing in the NHL which grants him a very long leash. He'll be on the 2nd line and he'll get eaten alive out there

I understand the motivation but it isn't logical. You never get that quality of player falling out of the sky. Remove the core and you bring the chances of a cup down to zero for another decade at least.
