Confirmed with Link: Holden to Boston for Rob O'Gara + 2018 3rd round pick

The HAHAHAHAH LULZ victory laps some of our posters are taking on the main boards on this trade are ridiculous.

It's a 3rd rounder, not a 1st. Holden is a solid depth Dman for a playoff push. Pull yourselves together. It's a fair trade all around.

I hope Holden’s Stanley cup will somehow soothe his wounds on the forums take on his fancy stats and usage charts.

There really isn't much to this trade. It's a fair deal at face value. Remember, Rangers gave up 4th for Diaz and Shepard during the two Cup runs. Holden is depth for stacked teams. Decent bottom pair DMen cost around that. He'll do fine with 3rd pair minutes and limit his responsibility hence less turnovers.

3rd round picks are always good. Pick a goalie, someone with high upside who is boom/bust, an unknown Euro prospect, an NCAA project, etc.

O'Gara? Maybe he becomes a useful 3rd pair during the rebuild. Everyone here hated Steve Eminger before he came to the Rangers, but he turned into a pretty good player.

Awsome, now give me some Graves!

And big thanks to @BBKers for giving us a heads up it was coming today!!!!
They’re keeping O’Gara up with the Rangers for now. I don’t think we’ll see Graves unless there’s another trade or an injury.

Clearly AV has made up his mind about Graves. Maybe it was the check he threw in camp.

I doubt Vigneault is making any roster decisions at this point especially during TDL and long term rebuild call up development stuff.

So this guy that was thrown into the deal is reporting to the Rangers? The tank is still on.

Not necessarily. If something if low value is going for a high price then it’s only logical that something of high value would cost more.

I mean sure, but we knew those other players would cost more already.
