Also, no list based on 27 peoples opinions is ever legit, it's fun, and somewhat interesting, but far from legit, if by legit we're talking having any value.
Just wanted to say great work guys! I'm a little bummed that Richter didn't sneak his way into the top forty, but I can't argue with the effort that you guys put into this.
He was a great clutch performer no doubt. Real important during a historical Cup run and a World Cup.
Sorry, I'm on my phone and can't easily check the voting records...how did Mike do generally amongst the voters (curious to see how he placed compared to guys like Vernon, Osgood, and Kolzig)? If the list was extended to 50, would he get in?
This is the final list of the top goaltenders from all of hockey history, as determined by the History of Hockey community at HFBoards:

i admire the list but someone information is off or just playing favs. Plante should be second. Sawchuk third, Brodeur, then Hašek
Well, you didn't bother arguing when everyone else was putting together well-reasoned and sound arguments. And you probably haven't read those well-reasoned and sound arguments, either.
So I wouldn't expect that you'd bother at this point.
Seriously - we worked our ***** off for this. Don't come in here and piss all over it with flippant remarks.
People playing favs instead of looking at the numbers but that fine ur choice on the list
I am afraid I have to disagree with you.
Tretiak has played loads of great games against world's most talented teams and has been terrific and dominant in most of them.
Yep, the only beef I have with the list is having Tretriak below Dryden - and I'm an "old" Montreal fan. That New Years game said it all....
Dryden was a great Goalie, perfect for that team (could stay sharp when seeing few shots - not an easy thing for most goalies) but Tretriak outplayed him.

Plante was a pioneer, hard to compare between generations as we all know...
That was one game (an exhibition game, no less).
Where is Alex Connell? no way he's not a top 40.

Wish you had participated so that someone could have explained why he belongs.
Connell was perhaps the goalie in most need of an advocate. I'm still not clear on what specifically made him a great goalie, other than putting up great numbers.
I went in thinking I would be his advocate. Did a lot of game to game research on him...came away thinking he didn't belong. Seems very likely that he was the Osgood of his era. I'm not sold that John Ross Roach wasn't better or at least on par. Adding Connell was largely a stat grab, unfortunately.
Maybe related, maybe not, third straight year the save pct. record* has been broken...who woulda thunk it...

Hey, the next time I say something like Lundqvist isn't a top-40 goaltender, can one of you just punch me in the jaw?
