Pretty sick for Fantilli collectors. Big dilemma on whether to sell first or hold.

Being on Columbus is a big drag on value. However, Columbus doesn't have a good track record of holding on to their best players so on the other hand he could wind up on a team needing a 1B/2A center. But it's at least a 5 year hold. At the same time the guy looks like he could be the next player that could become a Toews/Bergeron/Kopitar/O'Reilly/Barkov 1C on a true contender.

I wonder what it will be valued at. There's a long history of collecting HG YGs but not this weird Bowman/Topps-like "Gold Outburst" thing.

Sidenote: COMC is who handles UD's redemptions inventorying and shipping along with ePack redemptions.

My own anecdote but I opened more than a case worth of 16-17 UD S1 and only pulled Laine.

Opened 10 epacks and hit the Matthews YG.

I’m sure It’s been done tons of time but I haven’t seen a truly complete one yet. You’d need to get: base, exclusives, high gloss, clear cut, clear cut exclusives, silver, rainbow speckled, acetate (if applicable), plates. Add in the deluxe, outburst, outburst red, outburst gold if it’s from this year or last.

Base - all years
Exclusive - started in 98-99
High Gloss - started in 03-04
Clear Cut - hobby only started in 16-17
Clear Cut Exclusives - hobby only started in 19-20
Silver foil - epacks exclusive parallel starting in 15-16
Rainbow foil - epacks exclusive parallel starting in 16-17
Deluxe - started in 23-24
Acetate - started in 14-15
Outburst - Started in 23-24
Outburst Red - Started in 23-24
Outburst Gold - Started in 23-24

Printing plates - random years but recently have been booklets in The Cup

Yes, I can't say anything that proves that a 27-year-old player with the highest combination of Art Ross & Hart trophies of anyone in NHL history not named Gretzky, Lemieux or Howe is an all-time GOAT player if he retired today. I can't say that a player who just broke a Gretzky assist record and won the playoff MVP on a losing team with the best playoff performance in modern history is a GOAT. I can't say the guy 3rd all-time in Pts/game is a GOAT.

You’re doing it again. You state something that proves my point not yours. A single “historic” playoff run where the historic part is that he didn’t win the Cup.

The GOATs all have multiple playoff runs that end in Cups.

So that was the guy they trusted with replacements who gave us trash values.

I'm not sure if UD still handles that themselves anymore...it may be the same guys at COMC who have something to do with it. I believe they do the fulfillment for UD ePack. That's why UD cards can be transferred directly from ePack to COMC. Not 100% sure for redemptions.

FYI, this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened under UD's watch or other companies' watches. Many companies deliberately hire non-card collectors (for the obvious reasons) for their card-handling centers. Once in a while they hire a bad person like a gang associate and then once that person is "in" they will work to hire other associates and then start the backdooring. Considering how little they pay these kinds of people, it's no wonder it doesn't happen more.
