U18: Hlinka Gretzky Cup

Canada’s goaltender woes continue permanently. D’Aigle is f***ing terrible, my god. The Finns have scored on every single high danger chance they have. Canada’s defense hasn’t been great but it’s been really solid outside of those breakdowns. Dude just cannot make a single strong save. The Finns would probably have three goals if we had a shooter tutor in net.

8 goals against but also 3 posts. Get the f*** outta here.
I did not see the game. A early loss is NOT / never a bad thing.

Holy crap. What a nicely executed breakaway by the top line. That pass from Ponzetto was clutch. Defense looks a bit shaky though and Kirsch seems to have issues tracking the puck.

The pace of the game is much higher than in the series of exhebition games vs the Czechs. Hopfuelly they will adapt to it soon.

Some decent Czech chances... Tentative and slow start for both nations.

To keep with my theme of watching this tourney in weird spots . I am watching this is Jackson Wyoming at a target parking lot lmao... Great WiFi!

I just wish there was an example of a Canadian team losing their first tournament game badly only to win it all.

Oh wait... 7 months ago.

Titlbach! PGs fav! Benak with a nice feed. Galvas with a great feed earlier. Some decent Czech pressure.

So Slovakia comes down 4 on 1 set up the shot and it’s totally whiffed on. Swiss come back the other way and make it 2-0.

And can the fans in the stands be quiet? When has chanting every actually helped the home side :laugh:

This pohulkka kid must be relayed to Jakub flek.lol. Great chances... No finish.

Czech pressure continues to be good

Eh. I like Kirsch as a prospect but he's not helping his cause today. Horrible game. Almost no clean stops, horrible rebound control, consistently losing his net and finally he let in a slowmotion "shot" from downtown. I'm not impressed.

Yeah. My point is that I don’t even think it was a bad game - on the contrary, it was an extremely winnable game that we in fact would have won if our goaltending was merely bad instead of “holy shit where they find this guy, this is excruciating” bad.

Yeah, the first 5mins were shaky, literally all Slovakia. After the goal by the top line however the first period was mostly all Switzerland except for that Slovakian 4 vs 1 they wasted ahead of the 2nd Swiss goal. The goal they ended up scoring wasn't even a chance. I think the guy just wanted to keep the puck in and Kirsch got caught asleep not expecting a shot. Very poor period of his.

I didn't mean to attack your post, D. I just replied to your post because it was the most comprehensive.

I posted what I did because I know Canadian fans panic (not you) and fans from other countries are quick to throw dirt on Hockey Canada's grave.

Great 5 on 3 but nothing... One post. Sikora looks like a decent player.

Anytime you don't convert a 5 on 3... You are begging to be scored against. US goal incoming?
