It’s wild how spectacularly the North American fans in ths thread are missing the point... “It’s fine with me, more exposure, who cares about ethnocentrism,” etc. That’s like a bunch of white people assuring the public the decision to cancel Black History Month is fine with them. No one airing this grievance cares about *your* thoughts on the subject...? Accept that the tournament has particular cultural significance you don’t understand in Slovakia and the Czech Republic and people are pissed that its brand and history are being diluted with the ongoing commercial Gretzkyfication campaign and move on.
Obviously there are pros and cons to the change, it’s making the tournament financially viable, etc., but some people have a very specific issue (i. e. disrespect for the history of the tournament) and lecturing them about how much better it is to hold it in Canada because that’s where you live misses the point and makes you look dumb.
