From what I have been told by multiple sources that were in attendance at camp, was that Stranges was just ok, and not nearly close to being a top player at camp. "Other than the 10-2 skating all over the place, you wouldn't have noticed him at all" is how one scout described it to me.

I agree with the above "Want to avoid being snubbed? Go out and dominate and make them put you on the team."

With what has transpired in the past with Stranges and USA Hockey, I believe he needed to be so good that he forced his way on the team, and he didn't do that by many accounts. Past reputation only gets you so far, especially if they are looking for a reason to cut you. Being mediocre in the camp and being outplayed by many players including others that were cut, is not a way to demand being on the team.

Lol..10 and 2 comment is funny. In my only live viewing of the kid last year I noticed that too.. he’s damn good at it but uses far to often when he doesn’t need to .
Whats the story on Dylan Peterson for you guys following US hockey. From 12 to 14 -taking full advantage of that early birthday and size advantage- he was as good as any kid in NA. I think he came back to pack a bit in his minor midget yr and wondering what his prospects are heading into draft year

Some might view him differently but I have him just outside my 1st round at this point (33rd). I think he’s a guy that could vault himself into the top 15-20 depending on his progression next season.

I am not even disagreeing with you. I am stating what I believe to be facts. Stranges history with US Hockey was a factor. He very recently screwed over the program, making USA hockey look bad. I believe that he needed to come to camp and be top 5 player for them to consider taking him. He was not nearly a top player there. In fact my sources say he looked disinterested, wasn't putting out a full effort and looked like he thought he was too cool for school.

Is this fair ? That is a different argument that I am happy to have but I am not surprised after his performance at camp that he didn't make the team.
or he knew he had a snow balls chance in hell in making this team, and still showed up...my sources speak highly of him, how he conducted himself there and the way he played in camp was most certainly deserving of making this team - add to that his body of work with London, and yes this kid got snubbed.

I can’t see Canada losing this year. 6 of the defence on the camp roster are ranked in the top 60 for next year’s draft. there will be players cut who had 35+ points in their respective junior leagues which is ridiculous as there are usually 20-30 point junior guys on the team. the Canadian 02 crop is the best in a while

There were some similarities in his U17 season to Beecher. Very hyped coming into the NTDP, but wasn't one of the better players, despite having some tools. Big, great skater and puck handler, but not a whole lot else in his game. He still has another season and has potential, so I could see him as a late first with a good season, but more likely a 2nd/3rd rounder. I don't think he has the defensive game of Beecher, nor projects down the middle of the ice, like Beecher.

Is TSN broadcasting the games like they did last year? Or was that just cause the tournament was held in Canada? I prefer their crew over the Slovak goofs.
Came here to ask the same question. I hope now that it is in Canada every other year they choose to promote it. I can't check TSN's schedule past July 29th.
The bold part of this comment is mind blowing I must be getting old.
Wait until they start calling guys the same age as you washed up.

Yes, but only Canada games. You can find it in the Hockey Canada section of their page

Canada split their camp roster into 2 teams, Red and White. This roster will be stacked anyway you cut it, the 2018 draft had Veleno and Hayton as the top Canadian Cs, this year has 8-9 guys of that calibre or better.

These teams will play each other 3 times, July 28, 29, and 30. The stream is available through this link: Schedule and Scores

My locks: Rochette, Perfetti, Lapierre, Byfield, Perreault, Neighbours, Foudy, Sourdif, Sebrango, and Drysdale. If anybody watched the U17, you could see that this age group is one of the best in a couple years at least. It feels like Sochi when you project a roster for this group, they are strong.

My only disappointment is the lack of big, physical forwards. Most are under 6'0. First scrimmage game tomorrow, 5 pst, 8 est.

Hello all I am planning on going but cannot find accommodation in Breclav for Canada games. Anyone have any idea? Thanks

Those black numbers on red jerseys are awful, wow
I watched yesterday and today as my cousin is on the red team. My first thought was, who the f*** approved black numbers on a red jersey? Like is Hockey Canada too cheap to switch to a white color for the Red's or too dumb to realize it doesn't show well?
