Are you talking about the Hlinka? If so, which eligible players should be on the Finnish team who aren't?

Anton Lundell would be eligible but he shouldn't be here, since he's good enough to be on the U-20 team and was on the roster for the recent tournament. He was ill for the most of it.

To be eligible for this year's Hlinka you must have been born in 2002 or later. Lundell is too old by a few months.

I will say this, I can see why they decided to put this tournament in Canada some years, look at the crowd today in that Swiss-Canada game, better crowds at the morgue.

It's a junior tournament played in the middle of the summer on work days in towns with a population of around 25.000 people.

Also unless you call the tournament a world championship it won't attract as big of a crowd from Slovaks/Czechs. The u18 championship in Poprad back in 2017 drew quite a few more people than the Hlinka tournament in Bratislava/Piestany has in recent years.

Can anyone who was at games in Piestany confirm that the attendance for Slovakia game yesterday was really 1000+ people? Would be around the same attendance as they had for Slovak teams when it was played in Bratislava.

That’s their own doing.

No leagues are in playoffs right now.

Best on best is defined by each hockey federation having free and unbridled access to their player pool. If they don’t choose the best team they can, that’s their own choice.

It’s the unrestricted access to a hockey federations player pool that makes a tournament best on best. What they do with that is their choice.
Yeah, just the Liiga pre-season. How unimportant.

These players who are looking to make the Liiga lineups - likely for the first time - can't afford to go. Hence Finland doesn't have their best players. Also, some might simply be playing for the u-20 team at this point.

Simontaival comes to mind.

All factors for sure but I just thought a tournament under Hlinkas name would garner a little more interest even with it being in the summer, etc.

You are getting carried away with the hype for junior hockey. It's a U18 tournament in summer with not even the best rosters for many nations. I remember a few years ago there were no broadcasts to be found for U18 tournaments except maybe for the WC. Then some awkward one cam bad quality crappy streams. In this one I actually saw replays. This is not some big hockey event and people just expect it to be broadcasted and well attended and whatnot. And don't tell me Canadians will fight for seats at a CZE-Slovakia game.

I wouldn't call expecting a bit more support getting carried away or anything.Do I expect packed crowds? no.Do I expect half packed crowds in real small venues? well, I would at least hope so.

Are you saying there would be more people in Canada for the CZE-FIN game?
I am from a town of 30,000 in the okanagan in British Columbia and this would be a big hyped event in the community if it were hosted here,we just don't get hockey events like this much and the papers would be talking the shit out of it and the town likes it's hockey. Would the SOEC be packed for a CZE-Finn game? no. Would it get a more decent crowd then yesterdays crowd for Swiss-Can? yes.

Maybe they could do a better job of marketing it over there?

Thanks. I just found a stream and it says swiss-finn but i go on it and it is showing a Finland-Cze game.

I dunno what the **** is going on here.
Yeah that happened to me as well. You should find it on the Hokejka TV site though.

Was it Lambert who scored the first goal? Damned shitty stream and of course they don't even show who scored and who got assists and so on. Like please.
