Post-Game Talk: Hit em with the 4 like AM34. Leafs lose 4th straight game 7 to Boston: 2-1

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Here we go as a template. Lots of cap space to work with:

Xxx Matthews Nylander
Knies xxx xxx
McMann Domi xxx
Holmberg Kampf Jarnkrok

Rielly xxx

Trade Marner to Dallas for Mavrik Bourque. Then make Bourque our 2nd center.

Getting the game to the 3rd period tied should have given us a slight edge. There was blood in the water. But they seemed to play more tentative in the 3rd and OT and allowed Boston to build some momentum.

More evidence that this team has nowhere near the killer instinct you need to make a real run in the playoffs.
All of Bostons surges came off Liljegren soft plays. Run the tape back if you don't believe me. Lil may be off the ice after but he gives the flow back to Boston all the time.

How can he not even pin JVR. JVR casual stroll to the front of the net after Lil tries to pin him on the boards and falls to the ground like a weakling.

We just dint get to have lucky moement
Carlo falling down untouched and giving up the puck for easy goal? Great skill to have! Both teams fought like the devil. The Leafs in the last 3 games played like Leaf management wanted them too--except the big 4 not core....

Babcock the backstabber, Christ. If he couldn't beat the Bruins with the Leafs he damn sure wasn't gonna let Keefe to it.

I don't think it's Keefe so much as the "elite" identity Toronto conveyed to 91/34/16 and thus the club.

It's easy to see why any other club would get charged, loathsomely so, playing Toronto. Excessive reward that's unmerited will never engender respect.

Well, now we can enjoy the massacre of Boston at the hands of Florida. As epic as having BOS lose a series after having a 3-1 lead two years in a row would have been, I'd love to see them get wrecked again like they did in that 2020 series to Tampa where they lost a game 8-1.

I don't think TOR would have gotten by FLA. That team is pretty legit. You can't keep winning when your top players don't score enough.

Though this shouldn't justify 2022, at least that year we lost to an elite team that won B2B cups and was going on another run

This Boston team genuinely sucks, and so do we
There are a lot of similarities between this series and the Montreal series.

Both very beatable opponents but somehow Matthews and Marner just couldn't do anything.

I am so happy the leafs lost. I say this every year. Until You get rid of the corporate media owners of MLSE, nothing will change. Rogers and Bell own 75% collectively and use their media proxies of TSN and Sportsnet to always hyper pump their garbage investment. Until owners change, this culture wont change.

speak up leafs fans. speak up

Bruins should have won, and did.
Leafs played them as well as they could considering their best players didn't play all the games.

New MLSE CEO better be making calls already and firing Shanahan.

ookay. i'll bite.

Firing Shanahan does what. exactly? (i'm not defending him. i'm just curious).

then if you fire Shanahan, do you expect new president to fire Pridham/Treliving, because he'd want his own front staff/people right? so who do you higher as a GM etc. who is available?

and we want Keefe gone.but if we go w/Shanahan we might not get a good coach that's available until we get the presidency/gm situation going on because again we don't want to do this backwards.

so it goes back to. why fire Shanahan if Shanahan is legit just the guy who asks for the money from the board? do you believe he's actually the one running the team? did he tell Treliving not do make certain moves? again not being factious i'm dead serious.

I feel like i say this every year. it's not so much of "fire them." that's the easy part. who are you replacing them with.

Not sure I have ever seen a team give up goals very shortly after scoring them as consistently as this one.

Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Rielly not nearly good enough. Nylander had a few big goals and was the best of the bunch offensively but needs to be a lot more responsible and consistent.

Woll was great in limited action but appears to be made of glass. Samsonov was good enough for the team to win if they could ever score in the playoffs. Knies really seemed to take a step forward. McCabe was a rock.

I thought the team put in real solid efforts the final three games they just put themselves in too big a hole. Losing in OT of game 7 after clawing back is the leafiest thing that could happen and that says everything you could need to know about this org.

Big changes are needed.

Willy confirmed it was migraines that affected his vision -- he couldn't see clearly. They thought it was a concussion. Matthews didn't specify and said it's for another day.

I used to get migraines and they are HELL. And, yes, you lose your vision - it's like looking thru a cloud.
