GDT: High Effort GDT

I hate that I have to type this disclaimer, but it is what it is. I'm not in any way saying McBain doesn't deserve the lion's share of the blame on the Jets goal, and Peters deserves a bit.

But I'm not giving Joni Pitkanen a pass for the same reason that I just don't like his game in general. Standard procedure on a 2-on-1 is to play the pass. In my opinion, Joni made a great decision to take away Kane's time and space and force a difficult pass. But he executed it very poorly. If he slides or sprawls, he forces Kane to elevate the pass to the point that it would have been essentially impossible for Jokinen to handle. Instead, he just layed his stick horizontal to the ice, making it a fairly easy saucer pass for Kane. This is where the "lazy Pitkanen" stuff comes from. Not his cool demeanor. He just always seems to be willing to do only the least that is required. It would be nice to see him "sell out" to make a play every now and then.

I'm here for tonight's festivities... I'm seeing several Thrashers jerseys. They shall never die...

P.S. The chicken tenders here are still astronomically amazing.

I hate to agree with you, because I never do, but those were generally my thoughts in regards to the play.

I feel like I should go get tested now.

I hear you but on the opposite side of that, if he does go down the puck could get blocked leading to a Kane chance undefended. I'm fine with what Pitkanen did because he put himself in a position to mop up a rebound, something sliding on the ice wouldn't do. Really a no-win situation for him.

What the hell were Pitkanen and McBain doing there on Winnipeg's first entry into the Canes zone in the period? They looked like they were attached together.

so because he didnt lay out on a play where he already had hustled greatly to get back, he is tabbed as lazy? thats not where the "laziness" comes from. thats just called being ridiculously nitpicky.

Would be nice to wait until we actually clinch a spot. Too bad the marketing geniuses can't figure this out considering they did this towards the end of the 07-08 and 10/11 seasons.

Those marketing geniuses are the one's that are selling partial season tickets solely because the buyer thinks they'll get playoff priority, despite the playoffs not being a guarantee. That's literally perfect marketing, I don't know what you're talking about...
