I see everyone is taking the loss well 🤣☠️

I'm probably taking it easier than most. But that's probably because I have stopped being a hardcore fan and migrated to more of a casual fan. Last season's Jets get the credit for that.

I'm still watching the games, but not paying attention to the standings. If they make the playoffs, great; I'll watch as long as they're in it. Whenever there's no more games, I'll move on to something else until next season.

With such a laissez-faire attitude, I'm surprised I'm not already on the team

But I realize others don't have that attitude, which is fine too.

from listening to bowness it sounds like he regrets starting dave also wasn't even a question if nino is going in the top six

Yeah, I thought he kind of threw Rittich under the bus for what sounded like apparently tanking morale by letting in the 1st goal. Seemed strange to blame Rittich in a game where they scored 0 goals and had 1 SOG through the entire 1st period.

I think he should be regretting starting Hellebuyck in those back to back games. I think he's seeing just how much the Jets are reliant on Hellebuyck more than ever now.

With about six minutes left in the game, the staff came in to see if my mother wanted to go for supper. She did not hesitate, "Let's go!" she said. She surprised me, because she's like me, a very loyal Jets fan who will watch to the end, even though you know the outcome. I guess even she couldn't take anymore... My mom gives this game five bored looks out of five...

Hopefully, El Niño can add some spark to the team, because I think the Jets are fresh out of that.

The Prediction Contest thread for the game against the Kings has been posted, so go check it out. Also, don't forget to sign up to make a GDT, there are plenty still available, so have a go. Here are the next five games:

GAME 63: Saturday, March 4th, 2023 vs. Edmonton Oilers 6:00pm
GAME 64: Monday, March 6th, 2023 vs. San Jose Sharks 6:30pm

It's Dubois for me.

The intermittent effort between whistles with or without the puck combined with the fake tough shit after the whistles is embarrassing. Today he goes after Mayfield on an offside when we have a PP. Takes himself out of the game for five minutes. Pure stupidity, real "coach's kid" vibe in the worst way. I wish they'd sit him in the press box for a game for that kind of shit.

The guy has never made a commitment here and mostly just stoked the rumours that he's unwilling to. Schiefele has.

That lottery win for us to move up to #2 in 2016 has turned into a long-term curse. We've been stuck with an enigma at forward we're relying on to produce since then. At least when Laine was here Schiefele and Wheeler were still good enough to carry the team.
At least we had a power play when Laine was here because of his shot... when you look back, we still had a stationary, predictable PP back then - same as today.

Scheifele made a commitment but every year (almost) he starts strong and then you can see him start admiring his own talent... look at the open space I can get to, wow that's a great pass, I can snipe like Laine... and then he chases stats instead of back checking.

Not sure which is worse.

This is it. Right here.

The team stopped doing what was leading to wins and they're so f***ing stubborn they want to keep doing what hasn't worked for years.

If this doesn't turn around I'd be looking to move some core pieces and the first one would be Mark Scheifele. He produces but he's a selfish hockey player.
Great post @Jet and I was thinking the same thing myself. He's not at all driving the play, like he's capable, and has reverted back to last years version of himself.

He's likely going to want more than Wheeler to resign, and in the $ 9 mil mark, and before you get into a long bad contract, you have to consider trading him for some young prospects right now, while his trade value is high, with his half hearted effort. He didn't want to listen to Maurice, and now looks like he's ignoring Bowness, so if that's his attitude, you really have to consider moving him. Tough decision, but could end up being the right one.

It's likely time for someone in the leadership core to call a players only meeting.

The Jets will not continue this low shooting % but at least play with some level of urgency. Better to slump now than when heading into the playoffs. IF we can still drag ourselves into the playoff party.

I wanted to see what a new coach could do and he's had a positive impact on team defense and on the PK and some individual players. But some of the same bad habits with this core are still on display.

I think most of our players are too one dimensional (that goes for both offensive and defensive).

Conner is essentially who he is a dominant player in the ozone but sub par I'm the other zones. He can be insulated with good two way play by the C (something he was getting earlier thus year but no longer). Scheifele has gone back to cheating and extending his shifts, Wheeler has just flat out aged out and Ehlers hasn't looked the same since his surgery. Dubois though is an enigma, busts his ass for the first half of each of this and last year and fades hard the last third. I have to wonder if it's conditioning.

On the defensive side Lowry is a fourth liner being played above his current performance and he keeps getting pp time.. then throw in our other waiver guys coming down to earth and we are where we are at.

Honestly it might be time to move out the longest serving leaders on this team and hard reset the room there as well.

Yeh I’m seeing a team that has been led by certain guys for too long that just won’t change. Character game? Well we’re seeing the “character” of these guys. They want to make a statement, bench one of the leaders up front. Let’s see how that goes then.

I’m also tired of hearing about our f***ing center depth and size down the middle, especially from SN. It feels like we’re being trolled at this point because they either no show or don’t produce jack shit.

Right? Does it even matter that Scheifele, Dubois, and Lowry are supposed to be amazing center depth when only 1/3 ever actually show up on any given night?

Well, we are officially in a funk, which sucks. I'm not going to bemoan anyone here on this forum that wants to vent and air their frustrations. What really hurts is that we know that these guys can play so much better than they are right now, so while the losses suck, it's really hard to see the boys not believing in themselves.

With that said, how do you pick up someone when they're down? You support them, and I wish the fans in the stands wouldn't boo the players. I get the frustration, but that really doesn't help things. A forum is one thing, as I would hope the players would avoid looking here during the season to maintain their own sanity. The arena on the other hand, is their place of work, and cannot be avoided - it would be so demoralizing to hear the booing.

Whenever we're going through a tough stretch, I just try to remember that this is the NHL, and we're playing against world class talent every week. Nothing is a given, and I do believe they are trying their best.

As fans, we should do our best to lift them up.

So, to the boys:

Does this team really want to re sign Scheifele at 8 or 9m or whatever number his agent pulls out of his ass. Thought he was back to playing the right way but for the last while he is back to doing everything he was doing the past 2-3 years. Miss the playoffs and this team needs to be ripped apart and after PLD he is the next pawn

Not really if what he's been lately is what he's going to be going forward.

What exactly will we get when his scoring starts to dry up? Wheeler still puts some points up because he generally gives all he can but Mark hasn't brought that consistient effort for quite some time.

Chevy trades for help and this team goes out and looks like that?!?! f*** off. Something drastic has to happen and happen soon.

Yeah that start was disappointing to put it mildly. Honestly when your top 3 centers are all playing like ass it makes it incredibly hard for everyone else.

All three need to pull their heads from their asses. There is only so much play driving JoMo can do from the backend.

Yeah, he`s done a lot of good things as coach - but I also wanted to see what he would do in the offensive zone. I must say that I`ve been disappointed in this regard - for there`s no sign of any structured approach to generating scoring chances. It still looks to me that they are all literally ad-libbing things, relying upon their ability to read/react but with no strategy . Bones explanations that we simply need to get more shots on net leave me wanting ,quite frankly. And his plan to cycle low to high and generate shots from the D is weak stuff. Would luv to see evidence of practiced set ups for gaining access to the zone as well as for creating lanes of attack to the net.

Not for me. He fought and battled tonight and won faceoffs. This teams problems came before Dubie was even here.

I love his passion and engagement
