I just started Fire Emblem Engage after picking it up last week, and the story is so god damn bad to start that it's actually aggravating watching the cutscenes

The combat is terrific, it's a clear step up from Three Houses, but I'm going to throw my Switch if I hear someone fangirl about the Divine Dragon again.

Considering that color M&M means it's booty time we can all understand the uproar.

How are we to know now? There's no suggestive senses now, you now have to be more aggressive, and if there's peeps in the immediate area that can get tricky.

Nothing say's "let's get busy" easier than a fresh picked bowl full of green M&M's.

The internet is a weird place. When blokes start drawing the green M&M in erotic art, that’s a wtf moment for me as well.

When they were filming that here it caused quite the snafu with traffic. They did do a good job with the CGI though. Might have to watch that one.

It’s just moronic.

Like these nerds all whine about anyone having any sort of creativity with it. But filming a f***ing video game scene for scene from the cut scenes in the video game is like “omg it’s amazing”…

Bitch, no it isn’t. It’s literally the video game cut scenes, scene for scene. Which takes like zero effort and skill.

You seriously can just rewatch these and then wait for a third season.

Omg, such amazing work, not. f***ing dumb. I played both games. Feels like they didn’t even bother with the show and just did a copy and paste with live action. Done. Didn’t flesh anything out that could have been from the game, because not a lot needed it, so it’s just there.

I’m curious what they do with Fallout with Walton Goggins. Hopefully that one uses the premise of Fallout and actually explores it properly with some creativity and some fun stuff from the game to adapt.

I think the Last of Us is stupid as hell and nerd culture should be dragged out back and shot in a ditch.

But, from a film logistics standpoint, it does take a lot of work even to take something like that which exists and then make a cinematic version of it. I'd argue it actually takes more effort in some cases than filming something else which doesn't originally begin as a vidya jame. It's like watching someone spend years working on their final thesis only to turn in a D+ paper. :dunno:

The video game cut scenes literally laid out everything for the live action. To the point where the show is just mimicry.

Yeah, I'm just saying, there's things you can do in a video game shot-wise that are much more difficult to do in anything live action. The video game basically works like a very expensive storyboard but that just makes it harder a lot of times because you're not thinking about what is logical for the scene or even realistically do-able, but trying to copy something someone made in a medium where they don't actually have to care about that.

It's also one of the reasons why video game to film adaptations are largely absolutely dreadful.

We were actually having a big discussion about this very thing with a student film this year that was clearly trying to copy shots from a video game (and failing miserably). But people also forget that the degree of interaction you have with a video game and characters makes these kinds of cutscenes work to flesh out a narrative that gets established through game play but when you take that game play out, the film narrative f***ing suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

This is why I only buy drinks for a given night. If I buy a 12 pack thinking "I'll drink 6 tonight and 6 tomorrow", I'm going to drink all 12 tonight.

Wow, I feel depressed now.

I've averaging about 18 beers a week over these last 31 weeks. Which equates to 664 IC Lights. Or 63k calories.

I started counting to try to make my consumption go down but I think it's gone up.

This is the number I'm actually trying to get down to, 18 drinks a week. It's a work in progress, but it's something I'm actively trying to improve on

18 drinks a week may not be "doctor approved" but it's a hell of a lot better than what I'm at now.

I am not shitting on anyone for having a few drinks, our per capita consumption of beer in this country is two liters per day per man/woman/child.

Just the idea of drinking at home by myself watching youtube is so unbelievably bleak to me.

Despite my bravado sometimes, I barely drink a drop the vast majority of the week.

But then most of the time the weekend rolls around and some of my jackass friends usually want to get together for music or games and all that teetotaling goes right the f*** out the window pretty fast. So basically I'm a social drinker.

To be fair, I rarely drink at home during the weekday. Wednesdays we do bar trivia and I have around 2 beers there. Then Friday and Saturday are where I do the real damage. Doesn't help that the beers I like are usually stronger (7%+) and are usually served in 16 ounces. And medically speaking, one beer is defined as 12 ounces of 5%.

I had 2 beers at dinner last night and then met my friend at a brewery where I had another 2. And when I got home I was like, why not have 2 IC Lights while we watch some Netflix. But then when you do the math that ended up being almost 9 beers.

Oh hey I actually did the thing. Still have the pic of me swearing in where y'all photoshopped Tanev's eyes onto mine.

Love you HF fam. Lurked here since I was 13 years old in 08'. Legit grew up on this sight. I still suck at discussing hockey and coming up with original takes. But that's what I have you guys for

Edit: Awk. Can't get the insta links to work

Aw. I'm sorry about your friend, man.

But congrats on everything. Not an easy task so well done. And bonus point for choosing to be a medic, too.

See... this board raises terrific people!

Much love amigo, thank you. Haha right we do ok here, I thought man if I can handle this board during the Byslma years, I can handle the Army.

Army medicine is f***in wild too. Learned how to conduct IV's all in one day after a two hour power point. Got stuck twice a day, monday through friday. For about 6-8 weeks. Also we legit sometimes utilize fentanyl lozanges or lolipops as pain relievers. The go to these days is actually Ketamine though. Apparently you can pump patients full of a lot more K before they have problems, than other analgesics like Fent and Morphine.

Also I've had 3 tourniquets on at once. one on either arm and on one leg. I was the casualty in the exercise. Tourniquets hurt like a bitch. Honestly I have stories for days. Army medicine is so wild, we do shit that isn't allowed in civilian healthcare

Ah I’m sorry mate. That’s not easy and I read what you wrote (link works if you click it) - It’s not goodbye, it’s as you said “till we meet again.”

Means a lot man, thank you. Tbh I didn't expect anyone to read my caption. I don't want people think I'm fishing for condolences.

Also that last part you said there. It hits.

lol I'm too old to party like that anymore.

A McHurt party these days is not falling asleep before 10PM after a few beers.

Gosh I can almost imagine. Im 27 and I have trouble staying awake past 12am these days
