The Kraken welcomes Minnesota's own
Luke Mittelstadt out of the University of Minnesota (NCAA).
We're into the "Is this pick better than Jayden Grubbe" territory, so why no go for another prospect 2 years out of his draft year. Mittelstadt has gotten better over the seasons from the first time I mock drafted him in 2021. This year, he made the USA WJC team (in his final year of eligibility for the tourney) and put up similar NCAA counting numbers to Buffalo's 2001 1st rounder Ryan Johnson on a stacked Gopher's blue line. His brother took more time to season and looks like its starting to come together so practicing patiences with this pick. History has told me that this is a mock draft buster, what makes you possibly think he'll get selected after passing through twice? Yeah he's getting better, but maybe he's just peaking? He's likely already lined up to sign with someone after the draft. In any case, lessons shall be learned.
