That's why you were supposed to leave Savoie for me, so I could add a small playmaker to the Sens' size haha.

I was pretty stumped after. Felt like most of my options were goal scorers or guys with size. Ended up going with Nazar since I felt like he was the best playmaker out there and the Sens seem to love those Americans.

I always find it weird when Sens and Jets to some extent, go for American players. Seems to be a thing.

Thanks! My only concern is that I've taken more small skilled guys to add to a small skilled core of Hughes, Hischier, etc.

NJ could probably benefit from drafting Jirichek in my opinion. Probably too early at #2.

Yeah, I just decided to go BPA (plus drafting guys I think might go higher/avoiding guys I think might fall, so I can try to win this thing).

My thoughts exactly. I don't know enough about the Caps prospect pool to draft for need anyway haha.

Great pick. As much as I like Korchinski and Mateychuk, I think Mintyukov may end up being the best defenceman in this grouping. He was on a bad team and has all the tools in the tool box. I could see a team like a Detroit develop this guy into an absolute beast in the mold of a Sergachev. However with a team like Buffalo drafting him I expect him to be become the next Rasmus Ristolainen lol.

15. Vancouver selects Marco Kasper | C | Rögle BK (SHL)
Absolute steal if Kasper hits his ceiling. I see a lot of mock drafts having him go inside the top 10. I believe he with the combine and interviews and wouldn't be surprised if someone takes him in the 6-10 range even though most scouting agencies have him rate in the 15-20 range.

You know what I'll swing for the fences and put my trust in modern medicine.
With the 17th pick the Nashville Predators select from Omsk forward

Ivan Miroshnichenko

And desperately hope we got his last name right...

@Paralyzer008 does Dallas next...

With my pick I believe he will be an all or nothing player

Another year, another mock where you snipe my favourite player in the draft. I still have nightmares about Devon Levi, not sure I'll ever recover from this one.

Levi was your own damn fault, you proclaimed your love for him in draft threads for months before the mock. I think everyone in the mock was looking at him thanks to you

He's just soooo talented offensively. Defensively I have my worries at the NHL level. Having said that he lead his team with +59 on USNDP team which is bonkers. Man does he ever look a mini-makar whenever I watch him. I heard he brought a doctors note the combine, to show that he still has a good chance of growing in the future (which is rare for a kid his age). Have you heard anything about that?

Makar is listed as 5'11" 186lbs on NHL.com. Hutson came in at 5'8.25" and 158lbs at the combine. I'm not sure he will be able to grow 3 more inches and put on another 30lbs of muscle.

Very intriguing prospect and someone I have circled for the Oilers at their pick.

Yeah, I saw that. Not sure teams will put much stock into it but it's interesting for sure. For everyone else in this thread, this is what McDoused is referencing:

Sizing up the situation

Lane Hutson (5-8, 148) came to the combine prepared to ease any concern teams might have had about his ability to play in the NHL at his current size.

"I've seen an endocrinologist for my bone age and my bone age is delayed compared to my biological age," said Hutson, a defenseman for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-18 team. "So, there's still room to grow for myself. For teams concerned about it, I'm still not done growing."

Hutson said his older brother, Quinn, grew a few inches between his 19th and 20th birthdays to reach 5-11, the same height as their father. Lane said there's a chance he'll reach 5-11 as well.

I have Hutson in my top-20, but I do share the same concerns. There's definitely a possibility that Hutson can't overcome his size disadvantage, but think his potential is worth an early gamble in a weaker draft like this one.

I'm a big Hutson fan - he's so talented that I think he'll have a shot. It's a weaker draft, and I wanted to go with potential.

Mini budget Makar is my thought too.

It was between him and Bichsel.

I like Hutson’s game as well…my reservations are the same as everyone else’s…I have him in the 4th round because of it…the talent is there with some of the others, just my projection doesn’t see the probability of him making an impact at his size. Would love to see him prove me wrong, as I was always had size as an issue in sports as well, but trying to be a realist also.
