Challengers is on Prime…Zendaya tennis movie…haven’t seen yet, but ratings are solid. Seems like a wife watch…I know I’m saving it for mine.

No one will save you…….what a gem…..girl living in a house in the woods alone….”home invasion” type movie…with a great twist. Don’t read up on it or watch a trailer…go in blind….

The Boys - finally finished S4 ... "unnecessarily meandering"

If not for some awesome scenes sprinkled in here and there .. I wouldnt watch a season 5. Was the writing effected by the writers strike? Shit f***ing writing long term plot/story line wise

Homelander is still such an awesome character though, Deep scenes were great

Watched “Longlegs” last night.

Not bad, not great. More of an unsettling vibe horror movie. Lots of wide angle shots with lurking negative space. Some plot/character elements are a bit silly.

Same director (Anthony Perkins’ son) as “Blackcoat’s Daughter” - similar vibe.

I want to watch but I heard it disappointed after the hype…

Good call I like this sci fi movies

That one is just not going to unpack for some people. It's a very clear trans allegory (though you can also make a case for neurodivergence and it works, which makes it slightly more broad in appeal) and not heavy on narrative. It's constructed to play off the understanding of those feelings and struggles, so if you don't have them, it's going to be relatively hard to find an anchor.

Base level, it's a Buffy/Twin Peaks tribute film but it uses all that as flavor so it's not very narrative based in the sense that they don’t really engage with some known bad.
The story is really about Owen being Isabel and how they wrestle with that concept, escapism, denial, and ultimately the slow death of staying in what you know instead of being who you think you are.

Maddy feels the slow death and gets out, comes back actualized (or killed herself, it’s honestly not clear because Owen’s an unreliable narrator) and wants to get Owen to “the Pink Opaque” but it’s not the show so much as letting go of this “reality”. Maddy bringing Owen to the 50 yard line becomes a significant moment when you understand this, as does a lot of the Mr. Melancholy stuff. For trans people you really can die slow, die fast, or break out and seem pretty limited to those options.

I have friends in the experience which made it easier to spot those themes early but really if you distill it down to “the slow death of choosing not to live the life that would make you happy”, you can look at the ending with Owen suffering in this eerie isolation and apologizing for existing and that’s a lot more universal.

Wolfs. Very up and down. Terrific moments interspersed with a lot of ham-handed efforts to recapture the Ocean's 11 magic. And an ending that's either a rip-off of or an homage to one of the all-time great films.

Mr. McMahon on Netflix…..6 episodes….touches on a lot of big issues over the years….chef’s kiss from me. Loved it…
I’m a huge wrestling dork and have been hearing hype about this for a long time and it was nothing new to the regular wrestling fans. I think we were expecting some sort of bombshell that never happened.

For the biggest topics, yes, nothing ultra new, but interesting to see and hear the other wrestlers, execs, family response to the various topics. For example Trish Stratus on her bark like a dog segment. She sure doesn’t seem scarred by it lol…where I always thought something unseemly was going on there. Nope just part of the act…

Vince being so unapologetic on most things….and the seeming adoration from many of the wrestlers and execs really surprised me.

I’d never seen the footage when Nash and Hall left WWE and had that in ring hug it out session with their “enemies” HHH and HBK. I never knew that HHH got punished for that and it allowed Stone Cold to step in, win KOTR, and a new star was born. The whole Jake the Snake religious promo and Austin 3:16, and his catch phrase, was cool to see that unfold.

Felt like still some extras for me beyond what you saw on Dark Side of the Ring….

Yeah, each episode had this ominous lead-in text that foreshadowed something that never quite materialized. Everyone on the planet knows this guy is a festering shitblister, so the "revelation" that he paid hush money to hide affairs wasn't shocking.

That he garnered some loyalty from a pretty small handful of people also wasn't all that surprising. Sure, he used and abused 90+% of everyone who ever worked for him, but he was kinda nice and supportive to a couple close friends and otherwise just the people that made him ridiculous shitloads of money who are too dumb to realize how poorly compensated they were in the process. Dummies, in other words.

The non-stop lies, towering ego, horseshit bravado... Dude gives Trump a real challenger for the title of America's Best Bloviated Assclown.

I respect the cutthroat way he built WWE. Can't take that away from him. Dude stayed the course, crushed and then absorbed the competition. Props. But still... f*** that guy.

Definitely easy to dislike. Hell it seems clear Stephanie talked him into leaving, and everyone at the table supported him coming back, so she quit. The Shane stuff was also very interesting to me…

Perspective is funny though, you see the insiders seem to view this as a hatchet job against Vince now. I felt like the series was pretty down the middle…not too heavily slanted either way.

Pause and read those texts from a Vince…..if that’s not shocking lol….
