I finally got Amazon prime back for football season and have been catching up

Its a movie “jackpot” was very fun. Definitely a nice weekend watch Relax flick.

John Cena‘s transition from wrestler to Hollywood actor has been very nice. He’s one of my favorites. He’s very funny.

Random YT thing spun Xmen days of future past movie from 2014 which I had not watched probably in the years it was released. Went through a rewatch and surprised at how good it was even being siloed in Sony land.

His performance in Ricky Stanicky was pretty good. I laughed, I cringed, I laughed again.

Deadpool x Wolverine .. really funny, zero concern for plot, story or character arc ..

Mollys Game - pretty good, interesting enough when Michael Cera's character was on screen .. did get boring last half

is it "slap stick" comedy or "slap schtick" comedy?

Slapstick is a style of humor involving exaggerated physical activity that exceeds the boundaries of normal physical comedy.[1] Slapstick may involve both intentional violence and violence by mishap, often resulting from inept use of props such as saws and ladders.[2][3]

The term arises from a device developed for use in the broad, physical comedy style known as commedia dell'arte in 16th-century Italy. The "slap stick" consists of two thin slats of wood, which makes a "slap" when striking another actor, with little force needed to make a loud—and comical—sound.

slapstick's origin story ... now we know.

all the way back to 16th C

I just can’t get into the LOTR series on Amazon, I’m trying so hard lol
Yeah I wonder if its existing IP exhaustion even with LoTRs multi-generational existence. Essentially it is a pre-quell and I think they are inherently knee capped. Its safe and probably less marketing dollars overall. The legacy of the late 90s trilogy and even the expanded editions for LoTR fans are probably impossible to compete with as the TV show is going to forced to match the FX quality.

On thing for the show I had issues with with was sort of the elves overall aesthetic compared to PJ movies was jarring ugh to me since the aesthetic in the PJ movies lined up with the books in my imagination.

Playing MERP/Rolemaster RPG system in the LoTR universe we mostly played I believe in the 4th age basically after Aragorn becomes king. It was an open canvas of endless storyline of fertile ground as a DM to create custom adventures or campaigns.

Fantasy specifically I feel there are a crap ton of existing books/series for new IP in the movie/TV realm in the more 'adultish' realm of GoT/grim dark fantasy.

finished The Terror .. we really liked it. I like the idea of these limited series vs series that go on and on.

limited series usually comes from books, plot has a drive to it, everything has direction and meaning

series that just keep adding season upon season is fine for stuff like Friends or loudermouth

The characters are all over the place, and really I'm having trouble even figuring out the main plot. The orcs look dumb to me also and don't really have the same bite like they did in the movies. Looks cool on my TV though.

Watched 7 episodes of Shugon so far this weekend. Ill prob finish it all today. Very good show

A little trick watching it on Hulu if you watch the English dub the episodes are commercial free and makes the watch much more enjoyable with no ads. You still have to read a good amount of subtitles.
