 I'll give everything one chance but the radio took me for granted. My favorite genre is metal though, so I give those guys a little more room

Should come see Mushroomhead with me
Most metal doesn't sit well with me. I like Deafheaven a lot because of the shoe-gaze influences, but as far as I can tell a lot of people in the metal scene poke fun at them lol

They're pretty alright to me. A lot of people rip MRH because people think they ripped off another prominent band that performs in a similar way, kills me

The brand new Brand New album is easily album of the year so far for me.

Waste is such an amazing song.

I had 0 idea it even came out today and I basically cried while listening to it in my first run through I was so happy.

I heard Brand New once and it turned me off of them.

I'm very surprised by that. They would probably be one of the "newer" archetypal bands I would personally just assume for your music tastes.

Yeah that were definitely part of that Thursday/Saves The Day wave in the Tri-State area...maybe I just never gave them a proper chance.

Saves the Day still good tho.

I hopped on their bandwagon so late but they have grown to become one of my absolute favorite bands of all time over the past few years. I've found all their albums to be noticeably unique and different from each other yet still manage to be distinctly "Brand New"

I know people who stick on keto year round and feel great doing it. It's not an overly difficult life style to stick with and once your metabolism has adapted to it, you can still have a "carb heavy" meal or day every now and then and jump right back into ketosis pretty quickly.

I went on it for about 2 months just to see what the fuss was about and I dropped 15 pounds while already being pretty lean. Personally I feel better with some carbs in my diet so I jumped off of it after 8 weeks but it did make me pull back on the amount of carbs I was eating before hand (and I only put back on about 3 pounds of the weight I lost.)

The main reason I'm doing it is less a diet and more a lifestyle change. I ate way too carb-heavy.

Yeah, I think the idea is that it's fine to have a "carb" day every now and then. If you're fat-adapted, it really shouldn't be difficult to get back into ketosis. So after a few months, I'll go that route. I can't eschew pizza forever. I figure I'll try and stay out of carb days until winter, though.

Gotcha. Yeah I know a number of people who have had a ton of success with it. I considered giving it a go, but I couldn't get my GF on board with it and she does the majority of the cooking so I didn't press her on it.

Man I played the **** out of Weapon when it first came out in my freshman year of college. Drove my roommate absolutely nuts.

Listened to Science Fiction again all the way through on my commute. This is going to go down as one of my favorite albums of all time. Let alone 2017.

Really like the album on the first run through. I'll have to give it another listen and see if it tops the devil and god album for me.

I definitely recommend seeing them live if you haven't. I saw them at one of the last 285 Kent shows and it was a trip. The definition of "pummeling" sound.

I grew up on this music and considered Saves The Day my favorite band for a long time, but I honestly don't know if I would have gotten into the scene at all if it wasn't for Brand New.

Good stuff! I was excited to throw it on at work today and then I realized it's not on streaming services. You mean I have to download music?! What is this, 2009? Anyway, excited to listen to it later :)

A lot of metal I really can't do but I do like the Hardcore scene like Terror or Nails or Harm's Way or something. I guess that's kinda similar? At least in intensity.

Same, I don't really understand it tbh outside of the technical skill involved.

Outside of Metallica, I'm not really a particular fan of many of the quintessential metal groups.

System of a Down's first album is probably my favorite metal record of all time. Its some of the most fun I've ever had listening to music.

I do adore Pantera though. Opening riff on Mouth For War is the GOAT

Most of the people in the metal scene should be caged and muzzled, so there's that.

Metal fans are either the coolest people or completely intolerable and snooty. No middle ground.

Very important offseason question regarding denim:

My thighs aren't massive, but they're developed from years in net. I need a pair of jeans that isn't restrictive in the top box but tapers nicely to the ankle. My 511s (Levis) and 484s (J. Crew) are too tight in the thigh unless I size up in the waist. Anyone have experience with APC or Naked and Famous jeans?

And most metalheads would scoff at the idea of System of a Down being metal at all! Haha

I've been doing a long one time listen through of my entire music collection, basically as a replacement for the political noise I was getting with my podcast selection. Alphabetical by artist, chronological within each. I started last November. I just got to The Eagles.

Estimating that it will take a total of 43 months.

I would agree too considering their discography turning more popish after their debut piece as well haha.

But for that sole album I really do think you could classify it as such. Its weird as **** and avant garde but I think it fits the mold.

Banana republic travelers jeans have treated me well. I was looking for something similar too

OK. What are you looking to spend for jeans?

APC is meh. I do not like APC. And they are not at all made for developed thighs.

Naked and Famous's Easy Guy cut is great. It's more tapered than the Weird Guy cut and the leg opening is much more modern (it's normally .5" less than the Weird Guy opening on any given pair of pants).

If I can stretch your budget $50-100, though, I would really suggest you check out Left Hand. Their Charles Atlas cut is great for developed/larger thighs. The top block is awesome as it's not all that low rise or anything. Plus, they are made locally. Myf favorite pair of theirs by far was the White Oak Natural Indigo: https://leftfieldnyc.com/collection...e-oak-natural-indigo-cone-denim-charles-atlas (only a size 42 left). Gorgeous jeans, amazingly well built, and ultra comfortable. The taper is GREAT on the Charles Atlas, too.

Their new Nihon Menpu denim looks to be sick, too: https://leftfieldnyc.com/collections/charles-atlas/products/nihon-menpu-1

Left Hand denim is just better made than N&F (as much as I love and wear N&F).

An alternative direction to go in - find quality denim in the Bloomingdale's sale section (you might find some APC oversized stuff there) and then have it tailored. As someone who had a similar problem finding something tapered to my liking, I've been doing this with all my jeans lately and it's been great. You can find $250-$300 quality denim in the sale section for $80ish, then have it hemmed and tapered custom to your liking for ~$50.

I have Banana Republic jeans as well, very comfortable. I have a large... Seat... As well as larger thighs so I'm happy that I found a pair that works for me.

Seems to me that a lot of clothing companies are favorable toward the slim fit and low rise which doesn't work for me at all.

My god this offseason has been forever this year. I need training camp to start and over reactions to read through!
