I disagree with both comments - Pumpkin is a fruit (right?). I can get a mango bullshit apricot sour or IPA year round, not just in the summer. What if I simply like more earthy and rustic flavors? Why do I have to enjoy them during a 3 month window when the IPA crowd deigns to engage in “falls seasonals” for a change? I don’t make you drink your Tropical Sunflare Mango-nana Haze Bomb DIPA exclusively from May to August. If I want a Marzen or Pumpkin ale in the summer, LET ME LIVE.
My issue isn’t with keeping a “fall” seasonal in the fall. It’s more so actual pumpkin season for the breweries that still use pumpkin in the brewing process and not just this pie spice flavoring like Southern Tier.

Drink what you like, whenever you want.

Oktoberfest beers should be released in September, not August.

Pumpkin beers should be released in October, not September.

Fight me.

You should be able to drink whatever beer you want all year round unless it literally cannot be produced out of season.

Otherwise you guys can take all your blueberry lagers and raspberry mango sours and juicy citrus IPAs and make sure they’re not on my shelf any time after August or before May!

There is a winter hazy IPA from New Belgium called Accumulation that's decent.

Instead of the usual dark beers that dominate the colder months, this ones crisp & fruity.

As long as its good It works anytime of year lol

The artwork on the label is a good assist to set the tone too.

Yeah I like that one as well. But that’s what I would choose in July as well as December. I just enjoy my beer palate mostly on the side of what people consider fall/winter beers, no matter what time of year it is. It’s just what I like.

Totally.

I tend to drink more beer/wine/whiskey than liquor/cocktails in the fall-winter months, not only because its a seasonal thing for me but also because of what I'm cooking.

A lot of the roasts/braises and slow cooked meals and sauces I like use beer or wine bases and there's nothing better than pairing a nice chuck roast or short rib with a Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. Like, OMG

Come to think of it - Had the Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year, out of a smoker at my buddies lake house last winter.

Tasted it neat first, of course.

Great.

But you know you never know what's in those bottles these days. All the counterfeiting shit going around. Could've been Four Roses in there for all we knew.

I should probably be a bit more clear about my comment. I am all for drinking whatever you want whenever you want.

The problem I have is that these beers are clearly fall seasonals, and motherf***er it ain’t fall yet. Just don’t market this shit as fall right now.

The explosion of breweries and this never ending race for shelf space is what has gotten us to this point. Fall beer used to be released in the fall back in my day.

Truthfully, Sam Adams has been releasing their Octoberfest in the 2nd week of August since at least 2009 if not earlier. My birthday is next week & I always have a 12 pack in the fridge before it rolls around every year.

Isn't the "actual" Octoberfest in Sept... like through early October?

2nd week in August isn't too bad IMO

The pumpkin spice everything comes earlier & earlier which is annoying... soon they'll be serving that shit around a grill on the 4th of July

I will die on the Oktoberfest beers should be acceptable year round hill. Marzens are essentially Vienna Lagers and Festbiers are basically just higher gravity Helles lagers and those are both available year round.

Agree on pumpkin beers though.

Underrated BBQ city is San Antonio. Many places there make fresh flour tortillas and hand them out with the food like other places do white bread. That shit is made for me.

Also, if you are into smoking meat at all, I highly recommend giving a Chuck/Pot Roast a go. 90% of the satisfaction of a good brisket with like 10% of the effort.

And yeah, @Boris Zubov , you have probably never had good brisket. It is hard to come by.
In San Antonio they had a BBQ bandit that was stealing a ton of brisket at nights.

I’m at Equilibrium brewery in Middletown NY. Place is awesome. How the hell am I driving home? Lol

Man, I’m jelly.

I’m watching a movie with Henrik and my younger brother and we’re drinking Cutwater canned margaritas… which are actually okay. Not through the roof sweet and they clock in at 10% but I crave fresh draft beer on a weekend like this when it’s so nice out.

Seared a huge 3lb sirloin and have it slow roasting in the oven now. Going to slice it up and make some tacos this evening. Made a homemade salsa verde.

I feel the movie you are watching has to be Puss in Boots. Seems to go well with the food and drink lol

Btw That place Haymaker on 29th usually carries Equilibrium. I love that place. I feel it’s away from the typical garden crowd and it’s a nicer place compared to like Stouts. They also carry beer from Grimm brewing company from Brooklyn.

But I did take my band to Tir Na Nog before the Bryan Adams concert and they loved it.

The wife and I found that one a few years back when visiting my sister in Rochester. Definitely a good one, I usually pick up a 6 pack or two of it during the winter.

Equilibrium and Grimm are both good. Haymaker was cool - I agree on the separation from the Garden crowd. My typical haunts are even more lowkey. Imagine hole in the wall meets locally sourced bistro. Sounds bougier than it is. Basically never super crowded, lots of regulars, friendly bartenders, rotating taps and food that’s “inventive” takes on standard pub/sports bar fare.

Same brother. Same. I’d drink that stuff year round though, and same with the sugar rim.
