Feelin' good on a Wednesday
It's a little late, but need to give you huge props for this. I stayed an hour away but both days in Key West I went there. Absolutely outstanding. I might have a pic on my phone I can upload.

Going to Toronto in October (god damn Leafs are on the road ofc), but was hoping for some more great food insight from anyone up north of the border, or who have been there enough to know.
I'll be in TO in Nov for TOOL I don't have too many recommendations but have family there so I'll get back to ya.

Glad you got the lobster roll... looks as good as I remember!

Apparently I’m the only country fan on the boards (hardly exclusive - veteran of several Tool, Pearl Jam, RHCP shows as well). Country shows are cheap though and have such a laid back, backyard bbq vibe.

In the next few months we have:

Shane Smith & The Saints
Dierks Bentley
Whiskey Myers
Eric Church

My wife does a pretty decent hat business at the country shows so it makes sense. For me, I prefer the folkier or rockier country acts, but they’re all pretty enjoyable as far as concerts go. Miles better than a rap concert.

You are not!

I've seen Brantley Gilbert, Zac Brown Band, Rhett Atkins and Corey Smith (who is a blend of a few different styles).

It isn't my favorite, but it continues to grow on me.

I definitely enjoy country shows as well.

Most recent one I was at was Granger Smith about a year and a half ago. There's also local acts in the Hudson Valley and upstate that are good. Skeeter Creek (upstate), and Raquel & The Wildflowers (Hudson Valley) are 2 local acts that come to mind.

Would love to go see Zac Brown Band or Thomas Rhett someday, but they're not usually playing venues that I particularly want to go to. Kind of defeats the purpose of the laid back country vibe I'm going for if I have to pack into a crammed Manhattan ballroom (let alone the logistical nightmare) or figure out how to get to/from Long Island through the height of rush hour for an evening show out there.

The Granger Smith show was a perfect vibe because it was outdoor concert in the massive back space of a new brewery upstate. Sad he's retiring from touring and music, but it's a good reason for him personally, and I'm glad I got to see it.

Have to look at Bethel Woods for ZBB...originally had plans that weekend but it may have opened up, though a Sunday night concert with work in the morning might be a tough sell for me and my wife, and I have no idea if tickets are even available at reasonable rates at this point.

Incredible show. I liked Turnstile. Although, the first opening band, Kenny Hoopla was AWESOME. Instant fan.

The blink show was incredible. The emotion in that room when Mark was discussing his cancer battle and life... it was beyond words. I was right up on the rail for the entire show. Had the best view in the house.

Not gonna lie, I had some of the best french fries of my life at State Farm arena last night. I don't know what they were seasoned with, it had to be a mixture of powdered crack and fairy dust or something. W couldn't stop eating them.

I'll be looking forward to some recommendations!
The last time I was there we hung at King St & Queen st a bit… decent pubs all along. Hockey HOF is right there.

I don’t think there’s muchdown by the CN Tower & Scotia Bank Arena other than Fox & Fiddle but I don’t remember much about it.

Up by the old Maple Leaf Garden is the LGBTQ area.

This place was fun… had good Mexican & a wild vibe

Mill Street Brew Pub was good also w good food.

I’ll get more from my cousin

I gotta pick up a couple of these

Meh, I tend to find the massively hyped rare bottles to always be so tremendously overrated. I also hate overly peaty scotch. Islay and highland have some hits, but more misses. I tend to stick to single malt speysides. I do love the Aberlour A’bunadh. It’s not a mega rare bottle but at $90-120/bottle it’s a high quality scotch that, to me, drinks like a dream. I don’t have to “try” to appreciate it because of its price tag; I can just enjoy it because of the pure deliciousness that it packs. Otherwise, honestly I go with bourbons. I tend to stay in the 46%-54% range these days. I used to go after cask strengths in the 55-60% range almost exclusively but I’ve found a nice balance now between craving the extra bite of the higher booze, but wanting to enjoy the sip-ability of a well crafted spirit. That’s probably why I like the Aberlour so much.

Speysides are too light for me, i'm an Islay guy. Bruichladdich all the way
(Edit: full disclosure i do have a couple of the "cheaper" bottles off that list. I just want more)

Well, the A’bunadh is a 56% or so that is best enjoyed with a few drops of water to open it up, and it’s a very robust speyside. I do agree that in general, they’re lighter and have less body at the traditional 80 proof, but I honestly barely drink a whiskey below 100 proof these days, be it scotch, Irish or American, and while alcohol content alone doesn’t make up for a lack of body, the higher proof offerings from quality distillers tend to make up for any perceived lightness you’d find in a typical 80 proof speyside, IMO.

I just discovered this thread after spending a long rough evening at a Polish farmer shouse excessively drinking foul moonshine. If the trees had mouths instead of eyes we would be in deeep manure. Oh Boy

My wife is from Poland and they will definitely drink just about any clear spirit they can make that will get them drunk quickly, or so it seems based on her pops and his brothers.

If you haven't tried Bruichladdich's Classic Laddie yet, i'd recommend giving it a try. 100 proof, and unpeated

The Classic Laddie is one of my go-to bottles, delicious stuff.

I’ve always been an unpeated guy but I recently picked up a bottle of Longrow peated and I think I’m a convert now. It’s awesome.
