Back in my day we didn't have things like pokes or Jokinen waffles. This was a Dustin Rose fanfic site.

listen way back when on the boards, before the rogues den was given and taken away I have a distinct memory of you. 2 in fact.

1. You described your style of hair as dwight schrute
2. you were a barista for a coffee company i can't remember and was always posting about coffee and coffee related things in the lounge.

Don’t think you can apply the ratio here, as the site didn’t used to have likes. So would depend when you joined.

They literally have an HF award/achievment named after one of them lol

I suspect most people don't even know the full scope of this, so they all banded together and got themselves exclusively on the like leaderboard mostly so they could all change they avatars to spell out

"Buffalo sucks" or something like that

I had to reward that level of trollery

Unless post and like counts were reset, don't see how it could work. Big disadvantage to those who posted before likes were a thing.

Also, it would only encourage memelords to meme harder (like me)

Wasn't sure exactly where to post this thread, but I've been thinking and had to share a silly idea of mine...

If you really think about it...."comments" here are like games played, and the"likes" are like the goals and assists(pts).

IMO...if you have at least a 1/.5 pt per game(comment/like) ratio, that should be considered "league average" if you will. 1/1-1/1.5 should be considered good to very good depending on the # of "games played"(comments). 1/2 is elite status. All-star/first team all-HFboards material. And again this goes in line with # of comments for obvious reasons. The more the better. I'd say 25,000+ comments with a 1/2 comment/like ratio should put you in the conversation for league MVP. And anyone at 1/3 and beyond is a prodigy, and if they reach 30,000 comments with a 1/3+ comment/like ratio then they are officially in the "generational" conversation, among the best of the best to ever post at HFboards.

1/.5-1/.25 = below average

1/.25-1/,15 = bad to very bad

1/.15 and under = worst in the league territory

I might be off on this, idk. This is tough to pinpoint. But I'd be curious to see some of the top ranking posters/the poster with the best "stats".

Thoughts?

Afraid to ask what my ratio is

I'm relatively certain someone will have a screenshot of that

If you really want to farm likes… just make a joke about the leafs/oilers or make fun of Montreal Canadians prospects

1. This seems like something I would have said back then, but it's hilarious to me now. The older I get, the longer my hair is. I feel like I haven't had legitimately short hair since, well, 2006. Now it'd cover the nameplate on a hockey jersey. I never looked like Dwight, but I think I got a particularly bad haircut that made me look more him now that I think about it. I'm pretty sure that was the last time I ever got my hair cut short. I spent the next ~15 years with Jim's haircut, which was the style at the time.
2. Yeah that was definitely me  I was a barista for a solid decade or so. *sips coffee*

I started my account for a mock draft when I was a high school freshman. I took Kari Lehtonen #2 for the Penguins. Now I'm older than Mario Lemieux was when I signed up. :wally:

Wonder if, per my kind request of course, the gods around here would adjust the #s to no longer include the comments posted BEFORE likes were introduced as an official stat? Or maybe list them separately? Shouldn’t be too much of a hassle…

Don’t think that many really care about the ratio tbh.

Carolina embracing the jerks before the jerks were truly named.

I don’t think you can actually do this accurately.

I’m pretty sure that for years the system counted posts but did not count likes, etc

If you have an older account (like yours), your ratio is going to be way off

Oh didn’t see this before I responded with the same answer

Wait here just a second….and far be it from my simple mind to realize this earlier….but are you saying that my stats/ratio might actually be BETTER than what it is now? I mean just think about all those likes I missed out on….

When did likes officially become a thing?

lol of course not. I mean who would? This isn’t meant to be taken seriously. It’s all in good fun!

Oh yes, your ratio would be way better

It’s very rare (I’ve seen a couple) to have accounts as old as yours or mine to have a positive like to post count ratio.

I only really thought of this because someone once made fun of my ratio (loser, who does that 🤣). I’d never thought of ‘likes’ before that

I don't think it's a good way to gauge value.

If you wrote a 5 paragraph, thoughtful breakdown of a player, you might get a few likes.

If I beat you to commenting on it and I just wrote "Leafs suck", I might get a dozen likes.

Lots of great posters have bad ratios. Like Montreal, he makes a ton of great content but I betcha he is under the 1:1 ratio because of how old his account is. Noone would ever say he's not a 'generational poster'.

Heck, I think it's weird if people know there's without looking lol

HA!! That’s HILARIOUS!

And honestly wow, I didn’t realize how “elite” I was…

This changes everything.

At just over 1k posts I'm still a bit of a prospect, but my ratio is solid. A lot of room for me to grow my game and round out any weak areas.

Just saying, now would be the time for a savvy GM to lock me into an 8x8 before I really take off...
