Anyone just see that process play out on Boston with the penalty?

The refs just invented a penalty against the Fishdicks.

It was an awkward play and hard to describe but they called a major after a Bruin got hurt near islanders bench like a couple minutes after, no one called anything live. Didn’t even announce what kind of penalty they called, just a “major” and that it would be reviewed.

Then came back with interference minor.

Odd.

Here was the play, maybe someone has a video with the whole process and review. Seems like they just made up the rules as they went along on that one.

The way I see it is it was interference in which a player got hurt. Refs wanted to review to see if there was intent to injure

It’s clear no one called it or even saw it live and imo they just invented a major so they could see if a penalty actually occurred after bruins bench was in their ear.

If they had announced they are reviewing a major for interference then I wouldn’t really have a problem. But they didn’t even announce a specific penalty call that was being reviewed.

My fear is they will do this to try and review/correct ‘missed’ calls going forward, and thats not good.

I’ve seen them do similar things, this one was blatant by the officiating crew
