Interference is when you obstruct someone’s progress. Clocking someone in open ice that was never eligible to be hit should be a 5.

The ref was fully capable of calling a major without head contact.

Actually I think YOU have no idea what youre talking about. Because 2 NHL refs reviewed the hit and dropped it from 5min to 2min. The degree of violence did not warrant a 5min major in their opinion.
