The interference pick and then the nonsense on the ground with Garland holding him and McDsvid giving a shot could have been called, but usually they let that stuff go at the end of the game as both players are just taking each other out of the play. Garland went ham after they got up though and I can see why McDavid got set off at that. Don’t condone a check to the face, but Garland’s also like 3 feet tall so it might not have been intentionally that high

He's been both fined and suspended before - so he has history now. Plus this happened in HNIC with even the HNIC analysts saying it's at least 2 games - usually the league reacts to media attention.

Plus, with the match penalty, McDavid is currently suspended pending review, so they can't even use their usual defence of pretending not to see it.
