In regards to anonymous GMs:
If someone is being nice and willing to pick up a roster they didn't draft, or pick up someone's ball mid-draft and a caveat of theirs is to remain anonymous, I think the more important thing is ensuring that roster/spot is completed more than the new GM being known. It's something that only comes up when we have a quit and I'm hoping we don't have to do that again this year.

I'm still forming a response on the fictional wrestlers.

For a start date, I'd be fine with some time next week. I'd like to give some more time for sign ups.

I'm open to allowing the trading of picks this year to add a new layer. Before, Cutter ruled against it because I think he was worried about having to keep the info straight. I think so long as you send the completed trade that is clearly typed, I should be able to handle that. If anyone is hard against it, now is a good time to let it be known.

Greetings!
I was an Anonymous GM last year when I took over for someone who backed out. My main event was Rick Rude vs Steve Austin but I got most of my positive feedback on a Roddy Piper vs Raven in a Backlot Brawl and a 6 Man Tag that saw Crush, Goldust, and Doink cut a prematch promo mostly about Lilo and Stitch!

I am signing up now for real!

For the record, here was my thing about this. They're being anonymous puts them at an advantage. If you know I'm drafting and I've drafted wrestler X before you might take him ahead of me. However if I don't know who this anonymous GM is then I'm not on the same playing field. Not the end of the World, but still not the same. Only other thing I'd add is that GMs should only be allowed one card each, anonymous or otherwise. IE I shouldn't be able to have a card as les Habs and a second card as anonymous GM.

Burkie you bastard. Hiding in the shadows with your 4 posts in 15 years, pulling strings.

Also, time to fess up... les Habs is my burner account for shit posting. No one was ever supposed to take those cards, or any of the les Habs posts, seriously.

To me, I think they are at a disadvantage. I see what you're saying about not knowing them or having anything to go off to know where their head may be at, but I think that's pretty minor when known GMs can muck up your plans just as, if not more, easily. In the voting rounds I think an anonymous GM is at a massive disadvantage in that they rarely get any votes due to not being known. So far all anonymous GMs have been good about going through the motions and having some fun with it and probably don't view themselves as having great chances.

Best case scenario we get new full-fledged GMs from it, like Burkie here.

Regarding GKJ's suggestion, my two cents after thinking a while is that it's not a big deal to use wrestling adjacent people in the draft, though I'd lean toward not allowing them to be wrestlers. Wrestling does use random celebrities, even in crappy matches sometimes, so it does fit with what wrestling typically is. I wouldn't like seeing something like... Marilyn Monroe as a valet, The Beatles as the opening musical act, and Titanic era DiCaprio as the babyface in peril, but wrestling adjacent performers in minor spots... eh why not. A fictional character was once drafted and used before as well. Either way it's decided is fine with me.

As far as anonymous gms, I would rather there be none because no one quit this year.

When are things set to kickoff? Notice the 12th participant is still needed. I will be international May 13-29 with no laptop and half of that time will be in the Balkans. I am not anticipating the best WiFi access for my phone. Do not want to hamper things but if the timing is right I am down.

To be clear on what I'm going for in what I mentioned, or was intending, re: fictional wrestlers, I/you/we would still be drafting the person that plays the character, not only the character. But you couldn't, say, draft an animated wrestler because they aren't an actual person. The physical person in the ring is just playing the character.

Since it's used as an example, you couldn't have Mankind as just Mankind, Mick Foley is still Mankind.

That's sick. I wish I was going to The Balkans! Enjoy

Sounds reasonable to me.

I was thinking of getting this going Friday, April 8th. I'll post the draft order Monday or possibly Sunday night.

With being in the southern hemisphere can I send picks early with back ups or something like that? Hate to miss a pick over something silly like sleep haha

By that point things would be winding down typically. Probably the free agent period or the voting period. Last time it took less than a month to complete all the rounds, which would give you plenty of time. If you're interested in joining, I'd say just join regardless of how many there are. The more people drafting the more interesting it gets.

I'll join, I'm just a little confused. Are we trying to put together the card that will draw the most money or the card that the smark trampoline nu-wrestling fans will enjoy most?
Hahah tough to say- it's all based on votes. Personally I base my votes on what I would tune in for!

There is no criteria. You make a card and we have some votes later on and someone wins. Some will factor in historic drawing power, some will vote on who has the best matches, some look for creativity, CHGoalie27 votes for whatever card sinks the lowest.
