It's one (lame) joke stretched out into what 7 seasons of agony. Look at the socially ackward nerds try to impress the hot girl. :shakehead Jokes are can be seen coming from outer space (get it?), then they fall on your head repeatably till you get it (get it?). Awful.

I like shows that actually have writers in general. Doesn't mean they are "above" the easy joke, but it usually has some other purpose as well (or it's down in a different way). Shows that they respect the intelligence of their audience rather than regurgitating the same jokes and telegraph them so everyone knows when to laugh. Shows that you can watch more than once and get even more out of.

Some of my favourite comedies are Arrested Development, Archer, Futurama, 30 Rock, Seinfeld. Parks and Recreation, Sports Night (2 seasons from mid-90's), Community (early seasons), Bob's Burgers, Entourage, Freaks and Geeks all have some good episodes as well.

Archer? Come on, man! I love the show but you can't try to tell us that show isn't a bunch of regurgitated jokes and toilet humor, as well as it being the most low brow form of comedy, which is to make fun at different races, sexualities, women and people with disabilities.

I watch Archer and laugh like hell, but I don't feel smart OR like a better human being for it.

PS You do have a very solid roster of shows there. Can't argue with AD, Entourage, Bob's Burgers, Parks and Rec (god that show is well written and Amy Poehler is great) Futurama, 30 Rock and of course Seinfeld are big winners.

I think you are confusing well written shows with shows that satisfy your particular tastes. For instance you hate Friends which is probably one of the best written shows of all time. It was ground-breaking in it's style when it was written. It did not follow any overt formulas. It has one of the strongest overall large ensembles ever. There was a legitimate reason it was (and still is) so hugely popular and won so many awards.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to appreciate the cleverness and charm of AD, Entourage, 30 Rock and so on but just don't be able to laugh or like HIMYM, TBBT or 2,5 men. I'm with you speaking about films: I can't enjoy dumb **** like the Transformers movies etc. But come on, it's a SIT COM. What do you expect out of a SIT COM? I think they always do a good job to deliver likeable characters with crazy stories.

HIMYM actually has a lot of pretty clever written plot twists and time jumps. I can see why people think HIMYM and TBBT are BIG time overrated but they aren't bad. Arrow is bad.

Also, I really don't understand people talk so much **** about TBBT "they have one joke: They are nerds" - but they make it work, even after 7 seasons. Of course they exaggerate a lot and throw around cliches like baseballs but it's a calculated exaggeration and IMO, it did a lot more good to the "nerd-community" than it hurt them. I think a lot of dumb people that always thought "introverted, smart people that wear glasses are so pathetic and can't do **** in their life" think different about "nerds" since TBBT.

And all those nerds on the web yelling at the show... come on, nerds yell about EVERYTHING that's not only to them and created for/by them. It's typically nerds: Instead of seeing the good side they want to burn everything down. TBH, I don't want to know how many solid, smart guys with glasses got laid since TBBT because popular pop-culture just effects people. No matter you wan't it to happen or not.

I totally see why Shameless (US), Entourage, House, True Detective, Breaking Bad and aaalll that stuff is way, way better than HIMY or TBBT but comparing them is just plain unfair. I could list a million things.

I should have waited to buy mine. Mine was $459 with tax. Don't update to 8.1 because most anti-virus software won't work.

Use the stuff that's built into Windows. Costs nothing, works well, and is one of the lest intrusive of all the anti-virus software's out there.

I had Zonealarm free from MTS. Since I don't pay the internet bill, it was free. They have a beta version available but it didn't do scans on my pc. Not that I really go anywhere risky anyway. I go on facebook, twitter, here, pinterest, nhl.com, news sites and netflix.

I've deployed the built-in Windows stuff across 100's of workstations and servers - has always been reasonably good, free, and doesn't consume a bunch of resources. Just offering an alternative, and to let people know that Win 8.1 is OK when run with Windows Defender as the only anti-virus SW.

Friends never appealed to me in the slightest. I get that it was incredibly popular and critically acclaimed, but...just left me cold, tbh.

Oh I know. I have no issues with my laptop. I do absolutely nothing with it except clear cookies.

Windows Defender is all I've used for the last few years. No issues to report. I actually forgot I had it until it popped up because of some malware. Got rid of it right away automatically and disappeared again.

Ok, I only watch the Walking Dead and hockey (and other sports) on TV but :amazed: what show is that please?

SUITS, SON!!!

New Girl is hit or miss with me. The Prank Sinatra episode is GOAT! The more Schmidt and Winston the better.

Also, I figure most of you guys already know about the River City Sports sale on Henderson. 40% off everything. I got myself an Adrian Peterson jersey for $80. Wanted to get an away Jets jersey but no larges :(: (also $80 though... so nuts).

Yeah everybody is invited to watch the first season of Suits but be prepared to fall asleep after that. Donna and Mikes girl are worth a look ;)

I have hope it'll get back to great status. I'd only demote it to good right now, though many people think it's fallen off a cliff.

Lastly, Rachel Zane....

Either way, you cannot sell any assets during a divorce.

Doesn't matter since they are not a marital asset. We are just separated, nothing filed legally. I did promise her tickets too.

New Girl is brilliantly written. It's one of the smarter sitcoms being written right now. It's not all just formulaic sitcom tripe (don't get me wrong, I love that too  )

It may not be "formulaic" but it's plain boring, not funny, nor does it try anything. Don't see anything in it myself. Meh.

Archer has hundreds of smart quick witty remarks. So many references that nobody can possibly get them all, hell I am usually looking things up (did you know who Johnny Bench was?).

Like I said, a well written show does not need to be "above" the easy jokes (if done well) but they need to add something else as well.

Where did I say I hate Friends? I don't like it, it's not my type of show. It's not a bad show ala BBT, 2.5 Men. It does alot of things right, just not my type of thing.

I will recognize a well done show even if it doesn't appeal to my tastes. I think Modern Family is a well written solid show. I don't like it at all. It simply doesn't conform to my tastes at all.

When does everybody have the time to watch all these shows???:amazed:

Other than Jets hockey, we usually watch about 90 minutes a night (which with a PVR is about 4 hours of shows), plus Bombers games during the CFL season and NFL games until the Super Bowl. As much as I want to watch all the shows listed in this thread, time just doesn't permit. We will record and watch the final season of Mad Men, and then we'll binge watch either Vikings or Game of Thrones on some Sundays, but that's it. And I don't even play video games (unless you want to count Rock Band or WiiFit!).

I almost never watch shows week to week. Only show I can't help myself is Game of Thrones.

I wait until the season is over then spend the next year watching all of the previous years shows. So I am almost always a season behind  Still haven't started season 3 of Suits, been meaning to get on that. Probably going to binge Game of Thrones seasons 1 to 3 before the 4th season opens though.

Even if it's not a martial asset it'll still be considered a monetary valued asset that will be assessed for equalization and determines spousal support. Just make sure you get it in writing thay she'll pay you for the tickets you're giving her

I love doing that. Hate having to wait week to week to see what happens.
