Only 32 cities in the world with a team playing in the NHL. Maybe we snuck in in thanks to the boomer generation because the economy was good enough in Buffalo back in the day. We would never get this now if it were a new option.

Some players care more about taxes than others.

Some players care more about getting paid than winning.

Some players care more about playing with their friends than others.

Buffalo has consistently been a market that has a negative rep from visiting players. But, plenty of players like living here once they are forced to. Craig Rivet is exhibit A for a player that was not happy to be traded here and has since decided to live here in retirement, even after a nasty ending to his tenure as a Sabres player.

Adams was right when he said that getting players to come to Buffalo is harder than many other markets with better weather and better tax situations.

Adams was also right when he pointed to the Bills and saying that winning games is how you overcome that disadvantage.

The Trouba trade is an example of that. He blocked a trade to Columbus and accepted a trade to Anaheim. He wasn't making that choice based on who is better on the ice right now.

Today, Pegula and Adams whine and cry about players who don't want to be here. Winning cures everything.

He may have lucked into Beane and McD to some extent but he's actually a really good owner of the Bills. Getting him out of town would hurt the franchise that actually matters.

Just praying for the day when the Sabres organization folds or moves and we can get an expansion team. At some point, the bad karma and storm clouds hanging over an organization get to be too much for anyone to overcome. We're past the point of no return.

I would think that market rights and the NHL's tough rules for moving a team without finding a replacement would make it difficult to do so without a new franchise in place. Entirely agree that Buffalo isn't a desirable market on the surface, but it may be easier than asking the Leafs to rescind some rights to Hamilton or anywhere in between Buffalo and Toronto.

Idk, at this point, I don't care. I'll just bask in the old days and worry about franchises that aren't zombies.

That’s not true Buffalo is a great hockey market with passionate fans.
Plus there is Canadians coming to a lot of games.
Until covid there were still more than 18000 people buying tickets.
For the first 9 years of this suck they hardly lost any audience the first 5 years and then around 500 to 1000 which none of the other markets would have sustained.

I would argue that opportunity is the main factor with a chance to win being a secondary thing.

What's wrong with the arena ???

It's one of the oldest arenas in the league (that hasn't had major renovations since being built), and it's in rough shape for an NHL team venue (and even for a concert venue). Another concern is that the current lease with Erie County runs through the end of next season and then some sort of decisions will need to be made.

If they aren't going to build a new arena, they at least need to do some major renovations. I've sat in seats literally falling apart in KBC.

He’s no different with the Bills than he is with the Sabres in terms of management of the team. He just got lucky with his current coach/GM hires and the NFL prints money.

I think it's only fair to give credit when it's due, regardless of narrative. There are some really crappy owners in the NFL and Terry has not been in that category regardless of the criteria you use.
