If all 800 NHL Players were asked "Who is the worst owner in the league" how many wouldn't answer "Terry Pegula"?

Over/Under 50?

I doubt most players have knowledge of team owners outside of who they have personally interacted with.

My guess is you probably get a pretty varied list. The Sabres would probably be at the top now that the Coyotes owner is gone.

From a player's perspective, there are probably a lot more that would view him favorably than you think or view him as neutral, even guys that may have had issues with management and higher ups. There tends to be a more personal relationship where the players see a little bit more of said owner/ownership, than what fans will experience. Fans most likely are experiencing a "narrative" built perception of someone, usually shaped by media sources, or limited viewings of a press conference or interview.

Nothing has really come up from players that would indicate that Pegula is a major problem with them, though I'm sure there are those that might not like the guy like any other owner or person might run into. You're not going to be the favorite of everyone, or looked at favorably. That's just how things go.

There are a lot more emotional connections between fans and an ownership/management team because the fans feel a sense of living through their sports teams a lot more often, and most likely with more passion. You have fans that have been around since the beginning. Expecting that fan to have a more emotional reaction to the organization than say a player that might've played on the team for 1-15+ years, in some case, shouldn't be shocking.

I know this might be disheartening to hear, but players most likely aren't going to have the same emotional reaction as the fans do.
Oh I can think of one thing Pegula did that put him on almost every player's shit list...

And that is what?
I remember former players (and maybe even some current players) being vocal about not liking how the Sabres handled Eichel's medical care and autonomy.

I personally think they didn't have the entire picture, but it wasn't a popular move. Some might also be aware of ROR being moved right before a big bonus was due.

The whole refusing to allow Jack to get the surgery/medical treatment he wanted.

And that might have been a moment that players may not have liked that particular thing. That doesn't mean that they would view him as the worst owner in the league, or hate him. Let alone create a situation where the vast majority of the league views him as the worst owner in the league.

The ROR situation, could be looked at as a business decision, which again we as fans have so much limited information regarding.

Apparently Pegula's do not like embarrassment. Is a 9 (EDIT 10) game loosing streak and a GM's press conference where the best thing to come out it was Palm tree's and taxes not embarrassing enough for him ?

The frightening thing is he walks into One Bills Drive and see's a professional operation being run but yet lets the Sabres once again get run into the ground for the 14th year.

Aren't most fans done with this team now? It's a waste of time and there is no hope.

Pegs must at least see the opportunity to get some cash back by selling the team?
Why does he want to continue as an owner?

Is it a plausible strategy to "Coyotes" the Sabres? Essentially minimize expenses and make a profit from shared revenue while trying to sell the team?

Pegula has said he is a big hockey and Sabres fan. The money he gave to Penn State for them to add a hockey program talks to that.

I am sure he is frustrated with the lack of results. But, I doubt he's going to sell the team. He likely wants to leave the Bills and Sabres to his kids.

The Coyotes situation played out the way that it did because of the arena situation, unpaid bills, and a whole host of stuff that has nothing to do with just not figuring out how to win hockey games.

Gary Bettman fought to keep the Sabres in Buffalo when the owners were arrested and the team was in bankruptcy. I doubt he rips them out of Buffalo because Pegula cannot figure out how to build a winning team.

I wouldn't whistle past the graveyard on that.

That situation was a long time ago. Some of the old guard of the nhl is gone. The downtown arena was just 5-6 years old, now it's the worst facility in the league. Franchises are worth a billion dollars now. Golisano landed them at much less than $92 million. The lease is up in 2 short years.

The Sabres have not been relevant as long as many people can remember. Fans aren't supportive anymore. There wouldn't be that much pushback and outcry outside Buffalo if they were relocated.

It's amazing the damage this owner has done to this franchise. Mind boggling

Honestly, stepping back, if I had two businesses for my children, one that I loved dearly but lost money every year and will need a big investment in the future and one that printed money and I just spent a metric f***ton ensuring it'll be MORE profitable in the future....I'm probably selling the one I love just to set the kids up for success.

But maybe his kids feel differently.

As I've said previously, the issue will be selling at a valuation where the NHL will accept the deal without moving the team.

Pegula is meeting the team in Montreal per Friedman

Well, imagine how mad you'd have to be after watching one Child graduate college with honors, the next day having to travel internationally to yell at your other one for being a f*** up.

Daddy mad.

And here is the real rub. So many people talk like they know what Terry is thinking, what the league is thinking, what his kids are thinking, and we have no idea.

I'm done with freaking out over what might happen and what could happen.

Wake me up when something actually happens.

There absolutely would be. There are some people locally that would say good riddance given how things have gone under the Pegula ownership. But, there would be a ton of pushback from people throughout the region.

Especially since if they sell to someone who is moving the Sabres, that might mean the Bandits and Amerks are toast, too. That really wouldn't go over well.

Could this be significant? Is it to tell them Adams is finally gone and he apologizes for what a big mistake hiring an arrogant POS with no experience was. He also likely was backstabbing Botterill and others in the organization to get change and then fired all those poor people.

I think the best we can expect is it being him asking the team what they want/need to right the ship, which would likely be an empty gesture like the press conference
