Don't watch enough of the Bears but wondering what Day brings. I've seen multiple untimely penalties and shoddy coverage on the last goal. Just a casual fan's impression, maybe he's really a great dman.
 
This might not be the Bears night. It's hard to sweep a 7 game series and they have won 7 in a row. You can't always win every game. If they come up short tonight, just regroup and play better in Game 5.

He hasn’t had a great year this year. He did just battle back from a decently long injury layoff so it’s probably a lot of rust. He was a huge reason they won the cup last year and was one of their best D down the stretch. They need him to step up now that Ness is out

I like Day but you are right. Tough year. He was a borderline AHL player last year and earned a role in playoffs. He can be a steady AHL guy but he needs to tighten some things up.

He was a quality minute muncher in last year's playoffs, but had a rocky/injury-prone year this year. Big frame. Not a huge offensive presence, although he's decent enough with the puck to be a viable possession and transition player in the AHL. Seems to be well liked by the locker room and fans (wore his game jersey, sweaty and all, for like 3 days after the Bears won the Calder Cup).

He would have been traded mid season if he spent the year in the AHL and played like he has. He’s the new age Joe Motzko, who also sucked in Hershey and was traded to bring Alex Giroux back to the organization.

I wanted to like Phillips so badly because he played a season for the Penguins (yeah yeah I know where I am lol), but you're right he's just not doing anything when they bring him out for these playoffs man.
 
Well, Phillips is same in Hershey as he was in WAS… a 13th forward. I have to think he just hasn’t fit in culturally as well because he is a good AHL player (and not an NHL player). Can’t see any reason why he gets resigned by either organization.

Looking at his career salary arc, he’s gone from rookie deal (2.275 mil) to a series of 3 - one year deals around the $750k mark……you have to think his big earning days are over….only 25….just can’t overcome the physical limitations…..

Late to this party, but I'd say Day has two big assets in his shot and ability to knock down clearing attempts at the point and keep the puck in the o-zone. He hasn't gotten powerplay time since the end of the season though iirc so they haven't really been as evident of late.
