Whats wrong with Lundqvist?

What the hell is wrong with Lundqvist?

His save percentage is a dismal 90%, 3 wins and 5 losses.

He's playing like a Toronto goalie right now and Tortorella's teams wont win with that kind of goaltending. Is he harboring some kind of injury right now?

Might have something to do with the fact that the offense playing in front of him is 27th in the league, and that the team's PP is dead last. It's probably a little bit deflating.

As has been the case nearly anytime criticism or concern has been directed toward Lundqvist throughout his NHL career, #30 is the least of this team's problems.

Nothings wrong with him. Their is something wrong with you if youre blaming him for this.

Lundqvist is not on top of his game right now,but that is an incredibly minor concern compared to some of the other issues with the team right now
 
Lundqvist is not beyond criticism guys.

We have been getting shots and possession better than last year and the biggest change is now suddenly Lundqvist can't stop a beach ball.
 
Could be attributed to the fact that he had too much time off. I would venture to guess that we are still a ways off from seeing him back in the form that he was in last year. Just hoping its not too late at that point.
 
This could be the same for anyone in the NHL but I once watched a video of Lundqvist and he said that every season he question himself if he can be in the NHL at the start of the season but that eventually he feel comfortable when he get the timing back before the season start.
I think his absence of playing nowhere during the offseason and that there was not much practice before the NHL start this year combine that with how he began the season could have chip his confidence a little bit. His timing could also be a little off as he need time to adjust because of the long offseason. But I think this could take as long as until midseason for him to regain his old form, I hope not for your guys sake but so far so bad for Lundy.

Everyone had the same time off (hell, Brodeur had less and he's older), so I'm not sure that can really be used as an excuse
 
He hasn't been superhuman and the D hasn't been as good.

Very little goal support.


That's about it.
 
He's not beyond criticism, but he's not the most deserving of it right now. That's not to say we can't discuss it but the fact of the matter is: if we can score there won't be much to discuss. It's not just putting it in the back of the net, it's the effect that has on our momentum, on his psyche, and on the opposition's momentum. Scoring reliably, especially occasionally on the numerous PP's we've had, would do wonders for this team right now.

Once we're capable of that, and Hank's losing games by not stopping enough despite us playing good offensively, then we should take a look at him with more scrutiny and less bias.
 
Simply put he is the most overrated player in the history of the franchise, he was brought to NY at a time when a home grown star was badly needed. He is handsome and charming so lady fans went nuts over him he was so much better then the Kevin weeks of the world so rangers fans in general loved him. The media made him this darling but his game is flawed his glove is horrible at best his depth of play is a major concern as he plays ass deep in net and on his knees exposing a ton of net. I know I am not a fan of his and I consider him top 10 goalie in the league not a elite top 3 like the fans here. 7 million needs to be elite and win a series ala fat Marty not avg

What a load of sh*te. Hank put any of the myths to bed last season in the playoffs - stole games against Ottawa and Washington for sure. .931%, 3 shut outs, 1.82 GAA

He does need to pick up his play a bit though. We require miracles from him to be quite honest, but he is capable of exactly that.

Nah the biggest differences are. 1: The D is playing worse than it did last year. 2: Our offense is HORRENDOUS!

He's rusty as hell he'll get going. But if the D plays bad and the team can't score it's gonna be hard to win games even for Lundqvist.

Do you even Vezina?

I find it hilarious at some of the criticism he receives. I don't care if you put Bickel in the slot, Hank isn't going to stop 100% of shots coming from that area.

Let's trade him for Luongo, shall we?
 
He's struggling. I don't buy the cold leg theory because lots of others are outplaying him easily.

Read my first post in this thread on page 1. It still applies to today. Lundqvist is fine. This team has other problems which are the REAL problems.
 
Has Hank been his normal superhuman self? No. Has he been as bad as his stats would suggest? No. Look at the goals he's let in. Slap shots from 6 feet out going in the net are really not on him. He's still making some excellent saves, but the problem is the team is hanging him out to dry on so many instances that instead of these saves keeping the game tied, or us up by one, they are keeping us down by one or two, and are not nearly as memorable.
 
Hank is far from the team's biggest problem, but it would be nice if he would begin playing up to his normal Vezina trophy contending level. Right now, he's not.

Yes I know what a vezina is VBK won one as did many regular season goalies with a good yr. He is not elite move on and stop trying to force his greatness on everyone. 100% of the shots i agree are not stopable but trying stoping a few and actulally knowing where the puck is when it is behind the net is a good start. He looked foolish on the first goal last night

Sometimes I wonder what is it people are watching.

Most of Lundqvist's goals against have come off deflections and/or horrid defensive zone giveaways. Theres havent been many softies at all.
