Well, if he did do such a thing, it would be because torts is ineffective. I don't know what goes on in the locker room, but if a coach is ineffective it'd be good for the players to call him out on that.

It's one thing to call out a coach. It's another thing to put yourself above the team and publicly call for a coach to be fired.

Didn't Lundqvist have an e-problem with Renney too? That guy is sure an e-diva.

I don't remember that at all. In fact, I remember looking pretty upset when Renney was laid off.

I remember Jagr having an issue with Renney in how he ran the PP and basically said his tactics were non-sense and wouldn't work in the NHL.

But I can't remember Lundqvist ever saying anything bad about Renney. For the most part, I thought the players really liked playing for him. I don't get that vibe from Tortorella.

Really? You don't think the players like Tortorella? I think it's the exact opposite. I get the vibe that most like him a lot. He has their backs and will do anything for them.

It would be behind the scenes.

Do you think Boudreau got fired because he was ineffective or because he and Ovechkin weren't exactly seeing eye to eye at the point in Ovechkin's career?

And if I recall correctly, Tortorella's had issues with Lecavalier, and it was a big reason why Tortorella was let go. That is IIRC.

But, when the big ticket player and face of the franchise has an issue with the coach, more often than not it's the coach who goes. Not the player.

Really? I don't think so. A lot of times during the game it looks like the players tune out his barking orders. Criticizing a player works to motivate them sometimes, but when it's his main method of motivation, players tune you out. People don't always want to hear about how poorly they're playing.

No I don't think they like him, would you, lol? The guys acts like a dick and throws players under the bus left n right and has favorites. I don't know where u get the vibe they like him. At times they don't even look like they want to play for him

thats intriguing what some of you guys are saying with pitt..

i would deff consider Hank for Malkin, Fleury and 1st...

all in all hank stays.. guy wants to win a cup but i dont think he wants to leave a city that he's already invested so much of his life in.. he challenges himself so i feel thats the main reason.. he loves his fashion and music and NYC actually embraces/recognizes hank let alone any other ranger and the NHL... hes the face of the franchise.. guys like that don't leave when they have it so good..

hank stays, signed extension this summer!!

along with girardi i believe

I don't see this at all. Complete opposite.

Who does he throw under the bus? What favorites does he play? He benched an old favorite in the two most important games of the season, for ****'s sake.

Some of you guys are hysterical. Just making up random **** to suit your "point."

Oh I'm sorry, we are in agreement. I was confused. I probably worded it incorrectly. But yes, I don't think the players like playing for Tortorella.

That's rich. Aside from Hagelin, name these players he's throwing under the bus "left and right"? I'm eagerly awaiting your response.

Like who? What teams that need a goalie would he make "as sure of a bet to win as we've ever seen?"

Any such teams already have Stars eating up big cap space. Henrik has another long term contract coming. Very few teams have the right balance of cap + the other pieces in place.

I think the Rangers are as good a bet as any team to I've him the $$$ and the chance to win.

Plus he is LOVED in NY. Other than Jeter or Eli I cant think of a more beloved sport star in NY today.

Henrik has also been here long enough to know this season just didn't come together. Too many injuries to key guys at the wrong time to make a run.

He's in a good situation here. There have been two teams who have made it past the first round in each of the past two seasons.

I think he stays, but you could look at it another way. How much of the Rangers making it past the first round in each of the two years is because of him? If you think (as some do) that the Rangers aren't a playoff team without him, then what could he do with a team that is a playoff team (or near playoff team) with sub-par goaltending? Would the Flyers have won a Cup with him in goal over the past couple of years? What might the Caps be able to do? Would the Penguins ever lose?

Seriously. Some people should take a glance at Pitt and Chi's cap situation going forward before stating that Hank could jump on board and glide into a cup. Any team that got him, especially on the market, would need to have massive roster turnover to make room.

or be is a position to amnesty out a grossly-overpaid player or two (if said player is a goalie, so much the better)

You have to keep in mind.

Last season this team was top 4 in the league. This season it's top 8 in the league.

That's not a garbage team by any means.

NO D00D THE TEAM SUX.

BRO, DON'T YOU FEEL BAD FOR HANX AND STUFF? HE NEEDS TO LEAVE FORT THE CLOWN AND STUFF AND GO 2 THE WINGZ. TEHY CAN JUST BUY OUT PLAYERS TO FIT HIM AND STUFF.

THE RANGER$$$$ SUX AND TOOTS THE PRAWN IS COACHING IT INTO P00P.

Yeah. Agreed. The team isn't bad at all. The amount of people that think the team sucks and is bad just blows my mind. Spoiled, spoiled NY sports fans.

It's strange - I've never really felt like Lundvist, a la Brodeur, wouldn't spend his entire career here. It's a troubling thought to think of him ever playing elsewhere. I keep thinking that his name will be the next to go up to the rafters at MSG. You'd have to wonder if what he's done here, so far and up to the end of next season, will be enough to get it up there if he moves on.

I'm kinda leaning towards it won't be.

If he leaves now or next year there is 0% chance his name will be in the rafters. Meanwhile if he stays career out, there's a 99,9% chance his name will be in the rafters.
