I'd bet he stays. I know most people disagree with me, but I really don't think he was that lights-out this post season. He was great at times and insanely absent minded at others. It's not like he put on a clinic the entire time and got let down. Also, with the kind of cap hit that he commands, there's likely not room for him on a team that is so deep that a cup is all but guaranteed.
There's no team like that regardless of the cap.

Torts stays......Henrik goes.

I think its the other way around. Tortorella has alienated too many people. If the rangers want to go deep in the playoffs, they need a coach who could help the offense produce, like a Laviolette type. Maybe Vigneault might work, but Lundqvist is too good a goalie to pass up. If the Rangers let Lundqvist go, they will have to sign more players, and there next goalie might be not as good (No slight to Biron intended).

What players has Torts alienated?

Trolling? It's a legitimate question for sure, man. You aren't the first to say it and won't be the last.

How do the Pens need a goalie? They have a big contract goalie in Fleury.

Chicago cannot fit Hank into their team unless they trade off half the team and dismantle what they have. Chicago has loaded up on other players and made goalie a lower priority.

Yeah the pens don't need a goalie, that's why they are playing their 36 year old backup after their starter has now had 3-5 (depending on how you look at it) bad playoff seasons in a row.

Who knows, maybe they are happy with the 1 goalie for regular and 1 goalie for playoff system. Hey, it seems to work at least, so you got that going for you.

This place has been extremely over dramatic since that loss. The Rangers might make him the higest paid player in the league after Ovechkin assuming he puts up another excellent season. He wants to win here and I think he's going to win here.

People seem to forget that the salary cap exists and that he'll just walk right on in to Chicago and work an 81-0-1 season. The man would command a LOT of money on the open market. Outsiders signing Hank would be saying Au Revoir to a **** ton of their previous guys.

The Pens would be a better team with Lundqvist, no doubt. Really doubt they'd be able to sign him and Malkin, though.

Hank's UFA year is the same as Malkin and Kris Letang's IIRC.

Seriously. Some people should take a glance at Pitt and Chi's cap situation going forward before stating that Hank could jump on board and glide into a cup. Any team that got him, especially on the market, would need to have massive roster turnover to make room.

Imagine snagging Letang and Malkin?

We'd need to clear quite a bit of cap room.

That was more in reference to the idea of Hank going to Pittsburgh. I can't see them signing him.

As for your post, LOL. We'd be the most top heavy team ever but we'd have 70% of our cap space tied up in 4 guys.

Malkin will ask for same as Crosby, no more no less so so it'll be the same salary, more of a hit because of lower cap though. Letang will get a good raise, but they'll also lose Iginla (7mil hit), most likely sign a cheaper backup. Fleury makes 1.8mil less than Lundqvist at the moment.

Depending on what Lundqvist asks for, I think they could make it work. :dunno: Depends what they prio, stick with a mediocre/average goalie like now, or sign a quality one. (Granted they do need to re-sign like 80% of their roster by that point though, hopefully none of them wants a raise. ).

Henke will stay. I'm nt even worried about it. Unless Sather tries to be a dick and play hard ball and Henke says **** you and bounces, that's the only was I see him leaving. Sather better not **** up. Gve the guy6 years. 8 is too much... End of 6 years if alls good then give him another 2-3 depending

As a FA? He's going to ask a LOT. Malkin will make Crosby money, as you said, and Letang is going to ride this Norris nomination all the way to the bank. Wouldn't be surprised to see Hank hit the cap at over 7.5. With it going down, Pittsburgh would kill off so many guys on their roster. It'd be a disaster.

I don't think it's smart to re-up Henrik for 8 or so years. The Rangers, for the most part of his career besides the 11-12 anomaly, have been a fringe playoff team. He is the reason they are the difference between a lottery caliber and mediocre playoff seeding team. To me, I don't want to see 8 years of constant mediocre seeding teams. I feel the Rangers will need to do a proper rebuild to build a true contender and I can't see that happening with Henrik's sheer dominance to put teams on his back. Preferably, trade him to opposite conferences this upcoming TDD so he'll be enticed to sign with a team outside the conference.

Yeah, I'm sure the Rangers are just about to being a proper rebuild. lol

Yeah this explains the trade for Jagr, which ruined a rebuild. And the constant garbage FA signings that have led the Rangers to league laughingstocks. Proper rebuild is through the draft.

Yeah, I agree that Jagr trade hurt us. And while it's nice to get a slew of top 5 picks, the reality is you can still put together a solid core without having that luxury, assuming you have good scouting. Unfortunately, the real problem has been with the UFA signings. The big talent acquisitions have sadly been big time busts for the most part.

The Rangers are a laughingstock, now? The Rangers haven't drafted anyone, now?

The Rangers are not a a laughing stock. However, the way they utilize their cap for declining veterans is pretty embarrassing. The Rangers haven't drafted an elite 1D or 1C, those players are usually only available top 5 in the draft. Their only elite player was drafted 13 years ago in the 7th round.
