Solution;

Rangers squeek into playoffs in the 8th seed.
Hank splits time with Geo, both stand on their head (Two headed monster)
Rangers win ECF
Rangers win Cup
Hank Retires, takes a job with MSG

I would split him and Shesty for next year and move Georgiev.

Goalies are ****ing weird and you wanna make your move before their value goes down.
This IS ALL Georgiev's fault, now......isn't it? We had it all planned......let Hank finish his career here and just slide Shesty in and get a cheap back upl from the stockpile. Georgiev screwed everything up.

How anyone can move a somewhat KNOWN commodity for an unproven supposed commodity (I mean, can he even be called a commodity?) Is beyond me.

Way back when......Hank had an opportunity, seized it and the rest is almost history. Vally, LaBarbera, Markkanen and Dunham were his predecessors before the lockout.
Now he needs to pass the torch and bless someone else the opportunity that he once was given. Love you Hank and will always miss you......but I love my Rangers more and wanna win another cup or 2 before I die.

Shestyorkin isn't an unknown commodity.

He's 23 years old and he's ragdolled every league he's been in.

Yah not for nothing I’ll say it again Shesterkin is better than both of them.

by the way Georgiev’s getting the start against Toronto. That’ll be the 7th in the last 10 games. He needs to seize this opportunity with a big win tomorrow. He’s getting his shot right now

In the first place, for 8 M AAV it should have only been a 6 year deal to prevent exactly this from happening. Hank got the extra years and extra money so as much as I'm dying for a miracle cup run with Hank at the helm next year, he has to be willing to get 20-30 starts if need be. That's the risk you run when you ask for a ton of years that go well into your twilight years and dont lower your money asks to accommodate them
If I had one "stiffy" about Hank/his contract/and what this has turned into.....was I believed that this would happen. He "grabbed" what he could and it is conceivable that in the end it may have cost him a cup. Take 2 mil. less for same term.....maybe we spend it on a 2 mil upgrade over any center or goal scoring winger. We will never know for sure.
Take less years......say 3. Maybe he gets a brand new contract lasting 2 more years than his current one, with a team that had a chance at the cup.
Yada,yada,yada.
That was his choice...... I don't know how you guys feel, but if he (by staying) ends up costing us one of Shesty/Georgiev or getting in the way of Shesty getting his chance when need be......well then that will leave a sour taste in my mouth. Even though I like sour.

I know it's an infantismal risk but I hate the idea of moving Georgiev and then Shestyorkin duds out. Just to avoid a one year problem.
This is NOT a pathetic vision. It is indeed a possibility. Regardless of what happens with HANK, jettisoning Georgiev would be the absolute WORST decision they can make. You dont try and pull a full house if you only have a pair. You go with what is a KNOWN, find out more with Shesty, and Hank is either here or not.
I ain't got anymore time to waste with sentimentalities. Hank's got tons of money, a beautiful family and the world at his Kings Highness feet.
Only thing he and I have in common is the good looks. Lol.
Step aside quietly and allow the Rangers to do what they have to do.
Otherwise it literally becomes another year wasted in their development. A Panarin year, a Zbad year......etc.
Get this train going.

And if anyone here thinks Hank would take 1/10th of his salary to "hang on", without being a substantial contributor......they are cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

I will believe that when I see it. He isn't facing NHL players. Call me a skeptic a half empty glass, negative Nancy......oh yeah, I am a Rangers, Mets, and Jets fan. Thank God I rid myself of the Knicks when the Ewing era ended. Otherwise, what a loser I would be.

You never know how a prospect is going to deal with playing in most skilled hockey league in the world under the pressure of the most scrutinized sports city in North America after following the footsteps of one of the best players to ever play the position on that team.

No league other than the NHL produces known commodities. And even in the NHL, a known commodity outside of the NY market is not the same as within the NY market.

I don’t see the rush in shipping Hank to the retirement home. He’s still playing well and it’s not like he’s the problem with this team at all. This defense is still a dumpster fire, and it’s not necessarily the players’ faults. I’m just not in a rush to subject Shesterkin to this kind of abuse

I don't think the thinking is PUSHING him into the sunset. Most probably want what's best for the tree team. And if that means Shesty gets some games for his needed progression, then that probably takes precedence. If I am Hank, as much as I wanna play.....I would understand. If I don't, then move on.
He DOES have a choice.
