At Tampa he acquired 40yo goalies. Roloson at first, then Bishop.

It didn't prevent Vasilevskiy to pan out. He just bought out time for his development.

Same carbon copy will be happening at Detroit. And he has two cards now, Cossa and Augustine.

Bishop is only 36 now, he was 25 when Tampa got him

This isn't the kind of trade the wings can do, It's putting all the eggs in one basket. Everything the Wings would need to make the post trade roster competitive would go the other way in the trade and by the time we did another full rebuild he would be past his prime and no one is on board with the extra building years this would trigger.

Now list the cost of each

Jets aren't trading 37. The difference between getting a goalie in a trade now or on the open market next year with 6 million in cap space is minimal at best. Jets would rather get 1 more year of a vesina goalie in a weaker central as a bonus.

Based on all we've heard recently I think Chevy's ask would include one of Edvinsson, Kasper, or Danielson

Chevy can ask for whatever he wants, he ain't getting any of those for a vet goalie. Goalies always have lower value, especially vet goalies.

He probably won’t get those, but, he is a top 5 goalie in the league vet goalie.

This is the exact type of acquisition that I can’t imagine a guy like Yzerman would ever do…
Ever is a strong word, but it's sure not something he'd do right now.

Hard to say he'd never do it, though. He never did it in TBL because he never had to. He had Vasi pretty early on in his run there.

While Detroit does have the pieces to get him it makes little sense to give up those pieces for a rebuilding team.
It makes a lot more sense for a team like NJ who is in a very competitive division and trying to win to do this. They have the pieces and can afford to move them.

NJ the pieces but apparently Chevy wants other pieces. Ones NJ doesn’t view as expendable.

In other words the Devils could put together a fair to above value package that doesn’t include any of our core pieces.
