Old person here. Watched Bobby too. He was great but so is Kooch. Kooch is a better player than Brett. Definitely closer to Bobby.

I voted Kuch by a hair, but I probably had to project Kucherov's career a little bit.

If Kucherov retires tomorrow, it will be hard to argue that his 740 games (plus 150 PO) have more worth than 1270 games from Hull (and 200 PO), and the difference between peaks is not that big (one-year peak may well be in Hull's favor, as well as 3 consecutive years peak).

But Hull didn't do much in RS in his last few seasons, so it is easy to project Kucherov's career to match the tail end of Hull's career and to surpass Hull in career value.

Kucherov has won two scoring titles over McDavid, who's likely going to retire as the 5th best player of all time. So that's pretty significant IMO.

Hull Jr took away Hart from still-Art-Ross-winning Gretzky (and got placed above him in Hart voting the year prior). That's a big deal too.

Bobby was great. Old time hockey training. and Kooch is great. Brett is more on the level of andrachuk.

Bobby is a forgotten man is the talk about all time greats. Probably wouldn't be that way if he didn't have all the off ice stuff surface along the way. Probably the WHA jump alienates the "purists "

I have to really look at Brett vs Kooch. Gotta do some research

I have Bobby 5/6 on all time list

Dude was a rock, but Andreychuk? For real Brett Hull was far better, 86 goals in 78 games, not one empty net goal while the runner up scored 51… then he had two other 70 goal seasons. Compare that to Kucherov who had 144 points with 14 of those being of the empty net variety, Brett Hull has become a seriously underrated player, he scored goals like Gretzky and Lemieux at their peak.

Also Bobby was a considerably better player than Kucherov, we’re talking top 10 all-time locked down vs. a potential top 25-30 player.

Brett scored goals but Kooch contributes a lot more than scoring. Brett didn’t make his teammates better. Kooch definitely does. Using goals as the only measure would put Brett in the conversation with OV.

As someone who was nominated for Hart 3 years in a row (and won it once) with Gretzky, Lemieux, Roy, Yzerman, Messier still in their prime, Brett Hull deserves way more respect.

Exactly what I’m thinking. He was Bossy on steroids at his peak.

Brett Hull was a pretty good playmaker, curious did you watch him play?

Brett Hull in his 3 best seasons had 256 goals in 262 games regular season and playoffs combined. His goal scoring peak was essentially up there with anyone in NHL history if not the best of all-time.

Just two totally different players. It's like comparing Quinn Hughes and Scott Stevens.

Only Ovi is at Hullsy's level when it comes to ripping pucks, but sure Kucherov will probably overtake Hullsy's career assists by next season sometime.

Brett Hull has the greatest goal-scoring season in history, Kucherov nothing of the sort (100 assists is great, but not equal).

Something tells me if Crosby and Ovechkin were both not top picks and Crosby didn't have the pre-draft hype a lot more people would say Ovechkin was better due to the goal record. Perception matters.

Kucherov is a better playmaker

Hull is a better goal scorer.

Some people tend to think Hull was a one-dimensional goal scoring winger.
That was certainly not true. Dude was an excellent playmaker as well.

I still have Kucherov ahead but only barely.
And of course I have Kane ahead of both, again only barely.
