Its not fair to compare to Kronwall with Torres. The league is going to have trouble tolerating a guy who can't play in the playoffs without giving someone a concussion. Kronwall can do that. Now he might separate a few shoulders along the way

Martin Havlat and Jake Voracek disagree with that.

Sutter in his simplicity makes a pretty strong case. Stoll gets hit and didn't return in the third and I am not resting him. A hearing is warranted in this case. I don't see why Torres has to be there in person...

Well hopefully thats the conclusion of the hearing

Wow strong case... where is Bieksa s hearing after Havlat went out?

Yeah but hockey has this serious concussion issue... Ralph Nader has actually gotten involved. The examples you have mentioned aren't illegal hits to the head. Also it isn't fair to compare Ovechkin and Malkin to Torres

I'm sure he has dealt a few but not like Torres has and I can't think of one in the playoffs

Its not unfair. Malkin and Ovechkin have dealt out just as much ****in dirt as Torres but they are marquee players so its looked over. Just how its always been.

Ok... but Ovechkin has been suspended multiple times for hitting in the head and kneeing... although I still don't think the comparison is warranted. I don't see the Malkin comparison.

Now there is a big difference between Ovechkins hit on Michalek and Torres hit on Hossa.

Hossa clearly didn't have the puck and Torres decided to knock his block off anyway

As we can see in this Game 1, the Kings were the dirty team. Sharks are for the most part one of the cleanest teams in the league. The refs in this game didn't call 1/4 of the penalties that were committed by the Kings. Carter, Penner, and Doughty were all very extremely dirty players throughout this game. Not to mention the entire Kings bench when Galiardi got caught up by their bench.

This Torres hit is merely catering to the large Los Angeles market. Face it. Hockey is a Business. Anyone who watched the Canucks-Sharks series saw how dirty the Canucks were and how much they got away with (where was the suspension on Bieksa for totally nut shotting Havlat? yes, Havlat didn't say this caused his groin injury but I don't buy it considering that was his Last shift). Los Angeles is a big market. San Jose, I guess, is big but compared to LA and Vancouver, it's small beans, I'd say. The hit was not charging. No more than 2 steps were taken so this call should've never been made. Regarding head contact, it was STOLL who was stumbling like he couldn't even skate. Torres was already committed to the hit. STOLL put himself in the vulnerable position. He DID have his head down. Torres did NOT raise his shoulder ONE IOTA. Not to mention Stoll has 1 inch on Torres in HEIGHT.

The NHL is obviously a biased business. It is what it is. I'm sorry, yes, wrestling is fake, but so is the national hockey league. It is a stage. I cried, too, when I found out wrestling was fake when I was like 8, but I got over it and actually faced the Truth because I could Handle it. Torres is doing a suspension meeting on the DAY of the game? This should've been done TODAY. They are only trying to take away Torres because Stoll can't handle the ice right now. That's it, straight and simple.

The Truth isn't popular but that doesn't make it not the Truth.

They probably would, so would Hemsky. If Kronwall had done the Havlat hit a few years later he would have been suspended.

Concussions are going to happen in any type of contact sport. For all the crap Torres gets the majority of his hits are clean. Hes known for his physical play and ability to provide secondary scoring. He hits a lot and he has made mistakes. In this case hes a victim of his reputation. If he were suspended for a cheap play then I wouldn't be opposed to it but it looks as if hes getting the short end. Why couldn't it be Bracken Kearns?

Sure the majority are, but the Hossa hit was about as dirty as it can get.

When you do a hit like the one he did on Hossa it becomes a lot tougher to convince people of your accidents

If Torres gets suspended (which he is) then

Bieska
Penner
Orpik
Ovi
etc

Should all be sitting for multiple games as all had plays worse than that. I ****ing hate torres but hes getting railroaded if its more than 1 game.
Roy on Stuart also.
some Wing kid also drilled Demers in the head in the last meeting between Det/SJ . no call. no even mention of a phone call from the league

Because Malkin gets away with it. I was just using those two as an example of the NHL going soft on stars yet crucifying role players. Ovechkin has gotten off pretty light if you look at his resume of dirty play.

the league might as well also suspend Desjardins for his clean hit on Mayers , while they're at it.

Malkin is a dirty player. Watch him. He hits high, he hits after the play. Hell he instigated a fight after the game was over in the playoffs....nothing

No it wasn't. He left his feet which he shouldn't have done and deserved a punishment. The aftermath was the greatest influence. Matt Cooke on Marc Savard is as dirty as you can get in the post lockout era. That actually ended a career.

My last fifty cents. The only way you can argue that what Torres did wasn't a charge is: You would have to say he lost his footing as a result of the impact. Its possible, but then again Torres does have that reputation....

One thing the league can't do is claim that the hit was interference too.

Aside from the results they weren't that different. Hossa didn't have puck, Torres clearly knew he didn't have it, Hossa was totally blindsided.
