Playing Devils advocate...

Tournigy hasn't always been successful. His 384-357-20-66 record in the Q doesn't stand out as being that great. 452 win percentage.

Although I have zero knowledge on who was on Rouyn Noranda 15 years ago but he was the GM so that does fall on him as well. Don't know what the Halifax team was like in 2016...

Resigned from the Avs as an assistant to become a HC. Didn't happen, then was signed and fired after 1 season as an assistant with the Sens.

He's had a great 2 year run with the 67s that's been followed up with cushy Team Canada jobs.

Seems like more of a gamble compared to Nelson who has an extensive resume working with pro's.
And Nelson's record is absolutely unreal. 768 games coached (only counting seasons where he started and finished that season as Head Coach) and 443 wins. That's a .577 WIN percentage. Not a point percentage. I'm talking WIN percentage. Which is unreal. I'm not going to total up the point percentage but I can say the AVERAGE point percentage in those seasons (the mean of each totaled together) is .632 (that's 104 points per 82 games coached). Nelson never once failed to reach the playoffs in these ten seasons (10/10).

If I give Tourigny the same treatment, you get a .514 W% in his 956 games as HC, and .566 P% (93pts per 82 games). He missed just once in these 14 seasons (13/14).

For Groulx, it's 1280 games (same criteria) with a .542 W%, a .592P% (97pts/82) and an astounding single playoff miss in those 18 seasons (17/18).

Nelson is still my #1 choice. I think his resume transaletes better.

Bit concerned with how Tournigy will do with pros. Maybe he's figured some things out since being in the Q which have made him a great junior coach. Maybe that would translate well to the NHL, but maybe it doesn't. Higher risk compared to Nelson.

Groulx has a pretty extensive AHL resume at this point. I like all three equally.

Lambert I have waaaaaaaaay below.

Did Lambert for giggles. 392 games. .520 W% and .573P% (94pts/82) and 4/5 on playoffs.

So many variables with all of the candidates coaching records. Their record should only be one factor in a larger equation. ALL these guys are BIG gambles, make no mistake about it. I doesn't matter who BA selects as coach because the way it looks they are going to have jack shit to work with, and the pressure will be on them to perform, all the while not having the NHL experience to fall back on. The way it looks we are looking at trading 4 of our top 6 players. No team can do that and have a successful next year.

I kinda want the final to end quickly so we can just get into the offseason for real already. Let’s get tourigny or Nelson in here and get things rolling.

Still want Nelson. Hope it’s him. Think we’ll find out this week.
I’ve got Nelson, Tourigny, and Groulx in an absolute dead-heat. Happy with any. Head says Nelson, heart says Tourigny, and cojones say Groulx. Usually with these things, I end of cheering for the brains pick (Strome) over the guts pick (Marner) and I end up wrong.

Yah I want Nelson but no matter what happens I'll end up only looking at the coaches positives.

Then if they lose 10 to start I'll turn on them.

I don't think Tourigny would give up what he has to be an assistant. Groulx would be more likely there.

^ for anyone worried about me, that was about 12 minutes. Microsoft Excel for those of you in your late 60s who are currently trying to fathom this.
I don’t think continually bringing it up quells any concerns. Doing so merely makes
It look as though a nerve was struck.

Why don’t you contribute something? Have you considered giving that a try? Type out something new or interesting. Or even just funny. For once. You’re single-ply toilet paper. Abrasive, pointless, and just make things even shittier.

I’m not obsessed with pointless speculative contributions. I’ll leave that to others and contribute as I see fit, thank you.

Only worried because you didn’t state goals for and goals against. You are slipping ;)
