Wouldn't the sad sacks have more to post about after an awful game?

I think the game was so unequivocally bad that there's not really any debate to fire up the back and forth posts.

Plus it was a late game and I haven't even had a chance to watch it - and what a moribund place this board is without me chiming in! :sarcasm:
Well, thank goodness you are back, with your endless cheerfulness! Now watch me bring you down to earth with a single word:
STANLEY :sarcasm:
Truth is, unequivocally bad games used to attract more critical posts, but many "sad sacks" have likely reduced their posting or walked away precisely because of the name-calling and other inhospitable responses.

In the end, it really is unclear how good a team this is because of their behaviour in recent seasons, so no amount of posturing on either side really proves anything. I'm a skeptic, not by nature but by experience, but it is hard to argue with Vezina goaltending, an (almost) Norris level D, an outperforming number one line and solid coaching. Now they just have to play to their potential in a series of short sample size playoff matches, where anything can happen.:crossfing

You think the Leafs are winning the Cup? What has Toronto done in the playoffs in the last 60 years ? Weird you have faith in them and not the Jets.
The leafs did win a round two years back and are tied for 3rd overall with one less win than the Jets. Berube has won a cup as a coach and even the Cubs curse of not winning a World Series ended. I feel it is the leafs season to win it. I am not saying the Jets cannot but I am concerned about their ability to play playoff hockey (hate to sound like a broken record).

Lets just say i don't agree , Toronto got to the second round last year but hadn't gotten to the second round since 2004 . The Jets went to the Conference final in 2018 , Toronto hasn't gotten to the conference final since 1993 .

Toronto has an easier road to the finals this year than the Jets. Florida and Tampa have both played lots of playoff games over the past few years. The leafs will be in the conference finals this year.

Wow, semantics. 15 games samples vs 16 game samples. You really got me there. Good job

Why don't you break down the season into 16 game chunks then. Each of them will be a third. Then try to explain why you lumped together the last two thirds instead of looking at the last one by itself?

15-1-0 (.938 P%)
7-8-1 (.469 P%)
9-5-2 (.625 P%)
Seriously dude. There are no semantics in my post. It is exactly what I said. I am not trying to get you or anyone. But you keep trying to rewrite my post so it turns into a post that you want me to write. Life doesn't work that way. I am here to keep the record straight on my very simple, fact based post.

You are welcome to break down any chunks of games any way you like and provide your opinion on that. Go to town. Enjoy. I would appreciate it if you stop telling other people like me what to do. But I have a feeling that ain't gonna happen. Hope I am wrong.

You are, in fact, wrong. I won't stop calling out bias when I see it.

Your decision to just eliminate their record start because "it seemed logical to you" was at best arbitrary, at worst biased, and at the very least nonsensical

It’s hard when the 4th line can’t score.
hard to pitch in when you play 5-6 min a night and some of that is on the PK.
I think you gotta play 4th line like 10-12 min a night. They might do more with more minutes. Also the top lines are fresher each game, allowing them to contribute offense more consistently. I mean it is the top 2 lines job to score, not really the 4th.

yes, very true, too bad they get almost 10 mins a night...

Not true. They used to, which is what I said, and we were crushing teams when that was happening. With the exception of Utah game on Monday when Lowry only played 1 period, so they had to play more, they were averaging about 5.5 min a game last couple weeks. You can just look at the TOI on Score App or wherever. And again, they PK as well which is part of that

How can you expect anyone to get into any kind of groove/flow playing such little ice time

The reigning champs and back-to-back finalists are an easy out??? Because they're tired from too many playoff games?? I don't know about that one.

I do think this is the best Leafs team in years and they definitely have a shot but I don't think it's an easy road. Imagine if the Habs sneak into the playoffs and it's Tor-Mtl first found? Or Tor-Ott?? Anything could happen in a series like that.

the 4th line toi has went down recently because we've had our 13th-14th forwards in the line up, even when our regular 4th liners were getting 10+ mins a game they didn't score so idk why you are acting like the reason they don't score is because they can't get in a groove

Maybe. I could be focusing on wrong part.
Except, when we are going only the top line has been scoring so the other 3 lines can all share minutes depending on who is hot that game.

I believe they beat Tampa after Tampa had been in back to back cups . Florida has now done that , which is why I think they are ripe for the picking and Tampa is a shell of its former self whereas the jets have to deal with teams that have not gone as far recently just to get out of the first round and the reward is Vegas or Edmonton or even LA (who have their number).
Injuries and momentum always play a role. I cannot see the leafs losing but an MTL-Tor series would be fun to watch.
