Can't get only a couple of shots on goal in third periods and get lucky consistently.

Bad 3rd period, but I don't see how they got lucky. I knew the excuses would come. People constantly making excuses why the Rangers are lucky and actually suck. :shakehead

The irony of this post isn't lost on me.

What irony? The belief that I say the team sucks if they're playing well is a complete myth. Unless you're talking about the 11-12 team. That team was very good, but not a cup contender and boring as all hell to watch. If I say they weren't good, it's relative to cup contenders and relative to their accomplishments. They were obviously a very good team.

People do the same exact thing with the '11-12 team...

Except that team was good, just not as good as people say here. They also accomplished more than their talent and style of play would allow them to most years. It's funny, I remember watching a game against the Leafs that year when we won 3-0 and realized that the Rangers had so few games where they completely shutdown the opposition that year, but Lundqvist was amazing and if the Rangers just had a good defensive game he wasn't giving up more than 1. People that wax poetic about that team's D, forget how important Lundqvist was that year. Like today's game was better than the vast majority of games we played defensively that year (not that we play like that every game).

Question for everyone:

What the flying **** were the officials "reviewing" after Regin's goal? That was clear as day in the net, yet it took forever to drop the puck. One of them was even in one of the review booth. He was pulling a Carcillo for a ****ing blackhawks.

Yup, I have a tinfoil hat on. From terrible icing calls, missed hooks/trips to quick/long whistles, that game was officiated as one-sided as it gets, and I think it was completely intentional.

Rangers were impeccable defensively. Great game from nearly everyone!

All true, and we still won. Good job boys

I had the game on mute and was watching in a crowded room, but jesus christ JT Miller seemed to be everywhere all the time. What a game from him.

Don't look now but Marc Staal has been the Rangers' best defenseman for some time now.

I'm a huge fan of McD, he's fantastic and I love Danny G. I think their pairing is one of the best in the league. But when Staal plays like this he is unreal. His reach, his positioning, his board work. He's so good. I do not want to trade him, nor let him leave. Lock him up to an extension THIS SUMMER so it doesn't drag out. That way, if we re-sign G, we have an amazing top 3 defensemen. That's 3 guys who could be #1s on many teams.

Lol, I'm just busting you.

The 11-12 was definitely boring to watch. I'm finally admitting it. Gimme this team over that one any day of the week, and twice on Sunday's.

NEW YORK – In the first game back from Sochi for the Rangers and Blackhawks, it was hard to fault anyone if the first period looked like a game that had started shortly after 4:00 a.m. in Sochi, not 7:00 p.m. in New York City.

After all, for the athletes that only returned from the Winter Olympics three days ago, there is still a need to recover from the nine-hour time difference between Russia and New York.

“Last two days have been a bit tough,” said Rick Nash, who won a gold medal with Team Canada in Sochi on Sunday. “It’s been tough with the jet-lag trying to catch up on your sleep, but tonight felt pretty good.”

Ab-so-lutely. I want him locked up this summer as soon as possible...

My team's up by a goal with 1 minute left in the game. I take....

1. Chara
2. Staal

He's unbelievable defensively when he's in full form.

doubt that is the reason.

If teams don't know what they are getting out of Dan Girardi, one game isn't going to help them out much.

People always say this, yet in every sport at every trade deadline, certain players that just so happen to be on the trading block seem to get extra playing time that they wouldn't ordinarily get.
