Nylander on ice for 2 ga. Barely above the waves from an expected goal perspective.
There are no real positives other than Lil & Gio being the best pair and that isn't saying a ton.

Too early to say that, but some are getting a reality check if people thought getting rid of Holl would improve our defence. Holl wasn't a problem at least before last season's playoffs.

Not a fan of Bertuzzi at all. He is more suited for a bottom 6 role. I would like to see Knies get a chance on the Matthews line.

I liked Matthews defensive coverage on Bedard on the PK, and I thought Matthews has been pretty good on D all night.

Ryan Reaves is providing some sandpaper. All good.

Fraser Minten is in over his head. Time to go back to Kamloops for another season.

The Hawks are doing a great job of breaking up netfront passes and not letting shots get through. I don't know how the Leafs overcome that, but the coaches need to figure that out. It's the same problem that plagues them in the playoffs.

I do like Luke Richardson, and he's definitely enjoying this one. The Leafs need to rain on his parade.
