Rumor: Hawks expected to make big splash (Robertson, Knies, etc)

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

Trade, offer sheet or not go after Robertson

It seems as though Buffalo is trying for Knies with 4OA. They’re probably having to add Mrtka and idk, Ostlund or something to make it work.

But they might be well positioned to do so. Took them 15 years so you know what, good for them.

There is no reason to trade Korchinski

He should be on Hawks next

The hate for Korchinski at this point is absurd and again you would think after history of Hawks disastrous giveaways of young D people here would learn

The reality is he’s behind Vlasic, Kaiser, Rinzel, Byram, and Levshunov at this point. If you can add more forward firepower you do it. Especially now that we’ve addressed the back end. Next move should be for a forward.

If we are going to give up assets for a forward in Columbus rather go big than for a guy who has played either good or awful in alternating years over last 4 seasons

If our GM was going to overpay it should have been for someone like this

And if you do target Johnson further degrading our D isn't answer

Is Korchinski even starting next season? I’d much rather that 6th D slot goes to a vet like Griz unless KK simply blows us away in preseason and camp and looks incredible.

KK and Del Mastro are both no longer waiver exempt...so they are either in Chicago, traded, or subject to being claimed if you want to send them to the AHL. Del Mastro MIGHT clear waivers...no chance KK does.

We have seen GM"s in recent years willing to go the offer sheet route.. The NHL today isn't what it was 10 years ago when there was some stigma for most part about GM's using this tactic

That is why its best for teams to move guys before they could potentially be hit if they cant or aren't willing to sign them to what player wants

Korchinski's value is the lowest it will be right now, trading him would be an absolute failure honestly. He will be a NHLer and hopefully has the opp here to show it. Kaiser is replaceable on a good contract and could help land a decent return. However he is the ying to the rest of the yang..not really interested in losing one of the only d responsible guys we have.

Korchinski has to show in camp (if he doesnt get packaged sooner) that he can leapfrog Vlasic and or Kaiser. If he cant remotely show that, he is not a 3rd pairing dminded option for this team and would get dealt for what would be nothing close to a 7th overall picks value.

If they play Byram on the left side maybe KK can slot higher on the right side..wouldnt bank on it though.

Hey yall. Mammoth fan, here. Wanted to ask if Chicago is trying to push up the timeline and with Byram eating up top PP mins - what does that mean for Rinzel? I’ve seen online they want a winger for Bedard. Does a deal centered around Peterka or Rinzel as the primary two pieces make any sense for Chicago or nah?

I personally do not believe the Hawks are ready to give up on Rinzel even for a guy like Peterka. But anything is possible.
